RE: Happened again!

Forgot to mention I already have her on the same diet as my two ratties. Measured amount of dry, teaspoon yogurt, 1/4 teaspoon of the product "The Missing Link," and a handful of no-salt French cut green beans for filler. I have to watch one of the rat terriers, he would end up looking like a sausage with legs if not for my being careful and from what I read pugs are very food oriented also. The vet said whatever I'm doing to keep up with it, my ratties are the most slender he has seen and still healthy.
Love my dogs and want to do everything I can to keep them healthy so they have a long life to share with me!

RE: Happened again!

I have thought of a chip and when I can I plan to get her scanned for one. This little girl really doesn't have a very short snout and her nose wrinkle is very shallow. Because of these thing she sure isn't a show dog, just pet quality. Doesn't mean she is less valuable to those who love her! I've started brushing her and it seems like she hasn't been fooled with very much, have to take everything slow and easy as it all seems new to her. I do hope if I find her owners they know how to take care of her. I am being very careful to keep her in the house as it has already warmed up quite a bit where I live, very strange March! She has moved from the pet taxi at night to the bed with my other two small dogs, hey what's one more in the bed, it's big enough for all of us, LOL!!!! Can you already see she is getting spoiled, just a bit?!

RE: Happened again!

I sure hope the "word" stops now, went from two dogs to four and really can't care for anymore! To properly care for an animal can be expensive and I'm on a limited income. I am trying to find a new home for the first rescue, she needs a home with kids to play with. She is high energy and I'm low energy plus I have a 100% disabled husband to care for and that takes a lot out of me. She deserves more than I can give her. I've had her spayed, after presenting me with five pups, so the most expensive part is over, she just needs her shots and good to go. This pug is such a cute little girl but can't find a scar on her tummy so if she ends up with me she will be making a vet visit! Nothing un-fixed on our place, LOL!!!
Thanks for the links, I'll check them out. Have to learn how to take care of little Puggles even if she is only here for a little while.

Happened again!

I just seem to be a magnet for lost dogs anymore! A week ago Wednesday my other rescue was outside barking, and barking. Wouldn't shut up at all so went out to see what was going on and a little pug was on the other side of the fence. Mind you this was at 9:00 pm so I got the little dog and brought her into the house. Very hungry and just full of fleas. Gave her a bath and fed her and put her in a pet taxi for the night. Got Frontline to put on her and my two rat terriers. Put signs out everywhere I could and one in front of my house. So far no one has claimed her so I guess she is mine, at least for now. If someone shows up and can describe her of course she will go back to her owner.
Now I need to know how to take care of her as I know nothing about pugs and even if she ends up back with her owners I want her to go back in good shape! Any suggestions would be appreciated and TIA!!!

RE: Was someone was looking for a George Foreman Grille ?

I cook my bacon the same way as Pangaea Ron. After cooking it this way I won't do it any other way! Flat, no splatter, easy clean-up what more could you ask for?!

RE: I need to buy a new George Foreman cooker

I love my GF5 with removable plates. I do as Dianne and Tom do, soak in hot water then wash. I never put the plates in the dishwasher, ruins the Teflon coating.

RE: Dawn Dish Soap for Fleas?

Something I used before Front-line became available is this. 1 small bottle Ivory dish soap, 4 oz. glycerin, 4 oz. white vinegar. Mix in 1 gall bottle, fill rest of the way with water. Gently shake. Shampoo, wait 3-5 minutes then rinse. I fill the empty dish soap bottle with this so it's easier to use. Just refill from the gallon jug. I use a well washed milk jug.
While this will work for a short time Front-line or something else similar really works better long term.

RE: Chocolate mug cake

Here is a version I worked out. Just use your favorite mug cake recipe, chocolate, then add this on top, before baking.
Mix together:
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon cocoa
Sprinkle on top of cake, gently pour full 1/4 cup boiling water over cake and cook,2 minutes, 55 seconds, for my microwave.
This is also good adding about 3 tablespoons chopped nuts, pecans are my fav.! Can also add a few mini-marshmallows with this for a Rocky Road type cake.
Another one is mixing the cake in a small bowl first then add cherry pie filling to the mug, top with cake and bake. Yum, yum!!!!

RE: To neuter or not to neuter...that is the question

Snip! We haven't had a dog or cat that hadn't been fixed in over 20 years till now. I have a rescue female dog right now and as soon as she drys up from having pups she is going to the vet! Some of you may remember her, hit by a car, starved, rescued by my son, 5 pups after all that. While it was fun having the pups and I found good homes for them that will be all for this dog. To many dogs needing homes as it is without us contributing more. Plus the dogs are healthier in the long run.

RE: Tasty, totally unhealthy appetizer! Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots

One I just tried is to wrap Brussels Sprouts in bacon! Sounds weird but really good,if you like Brussels Sprouts. Just microwave bacon for 1 1/2 minutes, cut in half crosswise and wrap a sprout. If sprouts are large cut in half. Then bake for 20-25 minutes or bacon is done. You can serve them with a dipping sauce if you like.
