RE: Chocolate mug cake

Here is a version I worked out. Just use your favorite mug cake recipe, chocolate, then add this on top, before baking.
Mix together:
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon cocoa
Sprinkle on top of cake, gently pour full 1/4 cup boiling water over cake and cook,2 minutes, 55 seconds, for my microwave.
This is also good adding about 3 tablespoons chopped nuts, pecans are my fav.! Can also add a few mini-marshmallows with this for a Rocky Road type cake.
Another one is mixing the cake in a small bowl first then add cherry pie filling to the mug, top with cake and bake. Yum, yum!!!!

RE: To neuter or not to neuter...that is the question

Snip! We haven't had a dog or cat that hadn't been fixed in over 20 years till now. I have a rescue female dog right now and as soon as she drys up from having pups she is going to the vet! Some of you may remember her, hit by a car, starved, rescued by my son, 5 pups after all that. While it was fun having the pups and I found good homes for them that will be all for this dog. To many dogs needing homes as it is without us contributing more. Plus the dogs are healthier in the long run.

RE: Tasty, totally unhealthy appetizer! Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots

One I just tried is to wrap Brussels Sprouts in bacon! Sounds weird but really good,if you like Brussels Sprouts. Just microwave bacon for 1 1/2 minutes, cut in half crosswise and wrap a sprout. If sprouts are large cut in half. Then bake for 20-25 minutes or bacon is done. You can serve them with a dipping sauce if you like.

RE: Jalapeno Cheese Squares

I've made this for years and just love it. Use the canned jalapenos and drain well, at least that is what my recipe calls for!

RE: Vegetables?

I have a rat terrier that will only eat her carrots cooked and one that likes them raw. Daisy, the older dog, loves Brussels Sprouts and will fight for them! They both get French cut salt free green beans with their dry food to help with weight control. Will have to give some other veggies a try and see if they will eat them.

RE: Update on Lady-the stray needing to gain weight.

The stinky bathroom has already happened! This is such a bad time of year to have pups, we are having worse weather than we have had for years in December! It normally doesn't turn off this cold till January or February. We have even been known to eat Christmas dinner outside, but won't this year, it's cold!!!! I have been putting them outside on good days and they seem to handle it just fine, I have to worry about the 20's tho. Just don't know if they could handle it even tho we have a dog house just filled with hay and lined with blue foam for insulation. I turned it facing the house with just enough room for Lady to get in and put a tarp over it to help with the wind and rain.
They know me now and come "running" to meet me when I go in the bathroom, reminds me of having a 2-3 year old kid again, can't go alone you know! I've been working on them with the submission posture, laying on their back in my hands and holding them by the scruff of the neck for just a little while. So far they are all very laid back but I will continue to work with them, I also am playing with their feet getting them used to it. Letting them get used to loud noises such as the vacuum cleaner and my Little Green Machine that sure is getting a workout now with housebreaking Lady. I want these pups to have a good start on being great pets for whoever gets them.

RE: Update on Lady-the stray needing to gain weight.

Right now she only weights around 35 lbs. and she really needs to put on more weight, not going to happen till she weans these pups. These pups have a thick, fuzzy coat and mom's isn't, she has very short, thin hair. I do think with time it will thicken up,at least a little, after she stops nursing and can put on weight. She is still not up to par from her injury's. These pups have been hard on her, wish for her sake she had aborted them.

RE: Update on Lady-the stray needing to gain weight.

I am starting to feed them dog food now. They were starting to steal food from mom so I figure they must be ready. Goodness only knows what the father was, the pups coats are very thick and soft and a couple of them remind us of Saint Bernards (sp?) in the markings but who knows, just that they are very cute and they will be very well socialized by the time they go to homes. They have been held and played with from the very beginning. Will have to get pictures of them eating, such a mess but soooo cute!

RE: Update on Lady-the stray needing to gain weight.

I don't think there are many thing cuter than a puppy pile! They are almost 3 weeks now and starting to show an interest in food other than mom so I've been blending puppy chow, water, and instant milk for them. I have to get a picture of them trying to eat, it's adorable! It's been a long time since I've been around puppies so this is fun, at least for now. Have a feeling it's going to end up being a lot of work before they go to new homes. I've also been working on submission postures with them, never to early to start with that.

RE: Licking Dog delema

I have a rat terrier that has done that since she was a puppy. She used to put herself to sleep by licking my DH's toes! OCD for sure with her, she get's into the rhythm and almost nothing can make her stop. She has been known to lick her legs almost raw, and it doesn't help that she has allergy's, Bermuda grass is one of the worse for her. I had no idea there were meds for this, have to check into it.
