RE: Slide Out Problems

Our Gulfstream had a relay box mounted inside the front storage compartment on the back side of the wall which divided the compartment from the slide mechanics. I had to remove the cover and push a tiny switch on the side of the relay to reset it. Did the same thing for someone else with the same problem once, too.

RE: I65 from Pensacola to Nashville

Also at Crossville and just a couple of miles further past the BeanPot is the Spring Lake cg - even nicer! BP's sites are not all that level - SL's are.

RE: Slide Out Problems

The name/model of your rig and what kind of slide mechanism you have would help us give you better info.

RE: windshield screen

Had Prompt on our Phaeton for several years - replaced the suction cups several times - finally, for some undetermined reason, it just seemed like the wind dislodged at least one suction cup every few days, letting the whole thing get loose and I got tired of dealing with it so purchased the magna-shade. (I have to do all everything but drive now since Don cannot) I loved the Magna=Shade. A bit pricey, yes, (about $500 for ours) but so easy once I figured out the best way to fold it for storage so it unfolded correctly to install. Unfortunately, our current Allegro Bus has the snap style shade - I won't even consider trying to install it for any stays shorter than our several month stay in the winter since it will require my asking someone for help. I can see the possibility that we might wind up getting a MS for this one, too, but will wait and see.

RE: I65 from Pensacola to Nashville

About a day's drive north of Gulf Shores would be the southern edge of TN or the very northern edge of AL. We just came that way last week - some construction, no problems.

RE: 30 amp and 50 amp electric question

Yes - you can get a "pigtail" or "dog Bone" connector to use this hookup.

RE: New Concrete Driveway for 5th Wheel

Ditto Don's reply. We put our 14K + 5ver on ours after a month. But if that is what he says and it is not a huge inconvenience to you, I would follow his instructions. If you use it sooner and it fails, guess who is at fault for the problem?

RE: Slide Question

Since 2001, we have parked for the winter for 3-4 mos at a time - this past year for 6 mos - do not "exercise" the slide at all. (we've had both a 5ver & MH in this time) That is not to say it may not be brought in/out for another reason a couple of times, but rarely. Never had any slide problems.

Tried them - good & cheap brands - didn't like them at all for the above reasons.

RE: Leave set up ????

No. I would turtle it. Left open unattended might invite problems with vandals, critters, weather, etc. And, unless you need the time to travel, why not stay later today since it is yours again anyway.?

RE: Slide awning in the rain

Measurements would vary with the slide, but try the beach balls from Wal-Mart. The PVC frame I saw was very simple: the single leg at each end had a "tee" as a foot, running the same way as the narrow edge of the slide, this attached to a single leg as tall as it took to push up the awning slightly, on the top of this leg, another "tee" was attached so it ran the same way as the long side of the awning, (a 90 degree angle to the "foot"), with a single pole long enough to extend to the opposite hem of the awning and fit into that end's leg. The frame appeared to be 1" hardwall PVC pipe and I would imagine it is not glued (at least the long pole could be disassembled) so it could be stored easily. If this is clear as mud, PM me and I will try to clarify.

RE: Trying to plan ahead... all plans written in jello?

Call in, talk to a real live person and explain your situation. Hopefully they can accomodate you. If not, and you cannot change the COE reservations, I'd do the labs and hope for a cancellation you can have. If no cancellation, I'd not worry about the checkup unless you have a condition that absolutely requires it. Dr can read labs and see more than actually looking at you in most cases anyway. If required, he can call you and discuss med changes - if necessary, you can make an appt at that time. I'm sorry but I resent being treated cavalierly by Drs offices - I expect reasonable courtesies and if I do not get that consideration I will find another Dr.

RE: Slide awning in the rain

Yes. Some slide toppers have more slack than others therefore collect more water. Some folks have invented methods to keep water from accumulating - I've seen PVC frames, large balls, etc, they scoot under the awning. We just retract awning and dump any water. (It is more fun if someone is under the awning and unaware when this action is taken ....... but that is another story!)
