RE: Sights to see between Sioux Falls and Rapid City, SD

Lots to see and do. Check out the SD Tourism site.

RE: Man tries to climb Mt Rushmore

It was once a permitted activity. They should allow it again. It'll help sanitize the gene pool. :)

RE: Beer & wine in Canada & Alaska

You can bring all the beer and wine you want into Canada - you just have to pay duty on everything above a certain amount. Here's a site that tells you what your free allowance is, but I'd check the official Canadian Customs site since things change from time to time.

RE: Another WWII Vet is gone

My condolences to you and his entire family. I've known several veterans of Viet Nam and a few from WWII. Most never talk about their experiences, or think of themselves as heroes - but they are.

RE: 30 amp and 50 amp electric question

I carry a 50M to 30F and a 20M to 30F. I've used the 50/30 pigtail a couple of times. Once when the 30A socket was chipped and loose, and once when the site only had 50A and 20A (in Canada). Not very expensive, and when you need one, nothing else will do.

RE: Driving in Big Cities

Early in my RVing experience, I decided to overnight at a casino RV park in downtown St. Louis. Things I learned: Big city downtown areas are poorly signed for out of towners. Don't drive thru St. Louis on a Sunday afternoon on the same street as the Ball Park, when the Cards are playing at home and in the pennant race. Folks in regular cars didn't want my 'C' with toad in the mix any more than I did, and all their horns worked. Several made a gesture indicating that their team was number 1. When I finally got thru the mess, I kept driving until I found the nearest expressway and kept on driving until I got well out of town.

RE: GPS warning

Nothing like a paper map, a street address and common sense. All the mapping programs use the same government supplied horizontal and vertical coordinates for locations. In successive yearly updates of Streets and Trips, a big commercial campground that I frequent in the Sarasota area has "moved" twice. On S&T, it is now 16 miles NW of its actual location. One more typo and it will be in the Gulf of Mexico. :)

RE: campgrounds in Columbus Ohio area- need advice

The Ohio State Fair is July 25th thru August 8th this year. Lots of visitors at that time. Plan accordingly.

RE: Rt 60 Bridges

Here's a picture and info about the bridge. Note that the total width of the bridge deck is 20 feet. You might want to tuck your mirrors in, in case you meet a semi going the other way.

RE: Just want to say thanks!

You're very welcome, but the least you could do is send me the deposit that I lost. :)

RE: Branson Mo.

It doesn't look like there's any Interstates close to Branson and I'm not familiar with the US highways in the area, but I'd check to see if Branson has been rebuilt since the Tornado that heavily damaged the theatre strip the end of February. Maybe call some of the CGs in the area for an update.

RE: Yellowstone in September

I recommend Grizzly in West Yellowstone. After Labor Day is a great time to go since school has started, so crowds are down. Also, breeding season for many of the critters and its cooler, so they're more active during the day.

RE: Extended Warranty

Strictly my opinion, but if its a good deal for them (and it must be or they wouldn't offer it), then its a bad deal for me. I bet they know the odds of actually having to honor one a lot better than we do.

RE: First long trip. Two old Gramma's. need lots of help

I'm not trying to be critical, I'm just curious. You have Gillette, WY listed for 5 days. I've driven I-90 thru that area several times and even I-90 bypasses Gillette. What am I missing? :) Being a Gramma myself, this is perfectly clear to me... http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_bc5RhpxL1bc/SxAqdcu3kJI/AAAAAAAACAA/E9M6F7Ix_OQ/s1600/1880s.jpg width=400\\ All those cowboys...need I say more? :B (Sound of hand slapping my forehead) What was I thinking?

RE: best route from fishing bridge to cody

Rts. 16 and 14 both cross the Bighorn Mountains AFTER you get to Cody from YNP. Those are bigger than Tennessee's, and that's an endless part of discussions on this board.

RE: Helpful vendors or scam artists?

I'm wondering. Do you travel by yourself? If so, do you lock the RV when you get out? Do you wonder if the "good samaritan" travels by himself, or has a partner that checks for valuables while you're busy?

RE: Campgrounds with Private hot tubs on site???

Willow Tree's rates for a Site with Hot Tub range from $62 to $83 per night. And I still have no desire to swim in somebody else's toilet.
