RE: Yellowstone / Tetons trip

Average date to open for GTTS road is June 7th according to the NP website so based on the snow this year, I think you will be good to go! Good choice on Glacier and Utah on another trip.

RE: Which type of Pop Up Gizmos?

Had the standard high wind version on our pup for a number of years, then got the HTT. Sent my gizmos back to Bob to resize for the new camper and asked if they could "upgrade" mine to the Super version, of course he said "No problem" (great customer service, as others have said. I REALLY like the SHW model. They have hung on in a few nasty storms and I wouldn't be without them. If we ever get a new HTT, I would most certainly order another set of SHW covers.

RE: Tire Choices - Rank These Tire Brands

I went with Kumho and went ith 14 inchers as well. Additional load capacity is always a good thing to have. Tire Rack will get 'em to your door and there are plenty of quality tire facilities that will mount and balance them for you. Don't forget to ck the lug nuts after a few miles for a while!

RE: Best Campsites in Great Smoky Mountain National Park

Colorado in the Summer and the Smokys in the Fall!! Man, you have a nice deal going! In the Fall you can take advantage of the reservation system. Most weekends are busy if not booked. Ekmont is our favorite, great creekside sites, good location to explore the park. Cades Cove is nice for cking out the Cove, but a long way to get anywhere else. Smokemont on the NC side, so a bit of a drive to the TN side which we prefer. We always take a day and do the NC side, tube at Deep Creek and visit the Mill and Museum at the visitors center. Catalooche is beautiful, but a long drive to go anywhere else. What are you going to do while there?? That may help us steer you somewhere that meets your needs.

RE: SMOKIES-GREENBRIER SECTION

Just a thought, we often go in the morning, pack a lunch and take a nice break at the base of the cascade before heading back. If it is warm, the water mist in the air really cools it down quite a bit.

RE: SMOKIES-GREENBRIER SECTION

Ramsey is an awesome hike, our family favorite, so much so that we even named our dog "Ramsey"! It is a steady, gradual grade up then as kamphiker stated, the last 1/4 mile is tougher, with some taller steps and boulders. Take your time and catch your breath if you have the need. If you can do LeConte, you can do Ramsey!

RE: cades cove question

Right now it's COLD!!! Well, not really cold, but still getting down into the 30s and 40s at night, so that puts off a bunch of people. We spent the weekend at Misty River RV Park just outside of Townsend and it wasn't full, but about 3/4 full. I am sure that there are not more than 8-10 campers there now. I saw a bunch pull out before we did on Sunday. You Southerners and what you call cold!:B Just teasing Merrykalia! Mid week shouldn't have any issue with getting a site based on our Spring trips there.

RE: Equal-i-zer Success

jacksand5, enjoy that trip to Gatlinburg!! It is a nice drive. We love the changes along the way in the terrain from WI to the Smokys. After a long drive, the last section on the Parkway between PF and Gatlinburg with the mountains and the road winding with the river at its side, man I wish I was there!! As for the equalizer, it is really nice to tow with that bugger. I enjoy towing the HTT more than I did the big Coleman pup.

RE: Trailer in my DRIVEWAY!!!

My trailer is one year old and didn't log a lot of miles (kilometers) last year so confident tires bearings and breaks are good. One of my first purchases for my trailer was a torque wrench. Stopping in Kentucky and Georgia on the way there and back, and should be passing Atlanta on a Sunday afternoon and Thursday mid-day. Staying at Fort Wilderness for 9 nights, 5 Day at the parks. Taking one trip to Coco Beach (now probably the Space Center) Thanks for all great advise, keep it coming, I'm all ears. BEARINGS!!! I can tell you from working on many trailers over the years that the bearings are often not lubed correctly from the factory. I would say to repack them before as it is much better than finding yourself on the side of the road with a breakdown. Most manufacturers suggest the bearings repacked every 12 months, so you can look at it as needed work if it makes you feel better.

RE: Question about Yellowstone

Nice drive and would be enjoyable based on the scenery in the parks. Might have some traffic based on when you are going, but if you are not in a rush, well worth it! There are many large RV/trailers that make there way through the park, so your size is not an issue.

RE: When do you decide to level left to right??

R to L is the first thing to be corrected. While we are still hooked up we check the level to see if we need to lay a block or two down to have her sitting level. So we back her in to the exact spot we want the trailer, then ck for r/l level, if needed, pull forward just enough to lay blocks needed, then back her up and ck she is right. Then we put in chocks and unhook

RE: US-2 from East Glacier to UP of Michigan

We enjoyed US2. Drove it in 2010, and was in fine shape. Made good time and was a nice change from 94! We were abit worried about lack of services, but found there to be more than we expected. Really enjoyed a few small town stations where we talked to the locals and learned a few things! Really nice folks. Glacier is awesome, wishing you a great trip!!!

RE: Popup Gizmos & bunk fans

Bought them for our Coleman pup and resized them to fit our Jayco HTT when we bought her. I think they are great, help with condensation, heating/cooling and protect the canvas from sap and droppings. Our Sunridge was 11 years old and the canvas still looked like new!(well almost)

RE: What do you like the most about your Hybrid?

I would have to say that I am with you Rick! The stars out the open tent end is tough to beat, but the sounds of the creek or the breeze thru the trees or the ...well you get the idea, all ad to the joy I feel when we camp in our HTT!

RE: Alabama help!

Thanks for the pics J!! That looks like a very nice park and is close to the school for our visit there. We enjoy the trails as well, and the site overlooking the water....pretty sweet! Thanks again!

RE: We made a switch to Bunkhouse

It is funny, our kids all want to sleep on the fold out couch??? Go figure, it is short and not very comfortable.... BUT, back to you, phenrichs, hope your new rig works out well for you. I would feel the same way about missing the tent feel if we ever gave up the HTT.

RE: Galcier National Park Montana

Well, couple of notes. Many Glacier Lodge on the east side by Swiftcurrent Lake is a sight to see. You can take a boat out of there and even extend it by taking a short up and down hike (mayb 3/8 mile) to another boat and up to the end there. That is where you can catch the trail to one of the most beautiful - but tough, not impossible - hikes you will ever do - Grinnell Glacier. The boats are a shuttle but I would suggest reservations if you are going to do the hike and take the first one in the morning. There is a nice about 2 miles walk / hike around the lake out of the Lodge. Still not sure if you have a toad. If not, do the red bus. Or do the red bus if you don't want to drive Going To The Sun Road - which is a must. Downside of red bus is that you are on THEIR time frame / stopping points, not yours. I don't post pix here but check www.LaurenBarbara.com under the Wanderings link on the left and then Montana and Glacier. Enjoy. RE: Avoiding Yellowstone Crowds

Mid June shouldn't be very crowded based on our trips there. Early in the AM will always be less crowded, so get a good early start and you should be good to go! So much to see and do in the park that you need an early start to get more into your stay!
