RE: Two Low Milage 7.3 PSD...
The early 99 (prior to Dec 98) had a differant turbo and many other parts that are nnot interchageable with 99.5 through 2003 models. Parts are avail;able for early 99, often more expensive.
I'm towing 13k+ with my 01, have added programmer and straight through muffler. Rockies are doable.

Our 01 DRW only has 78k, and we've put 70k of those on it. Mild program and open exhaust, takes Carri Lite over the Rockies with no issues. See "Little America" again in MaY.

Exhaust and air intake, stock exhaust is 3 1/2 inch so getting rid of stock muffler will help (if complete exhaust go to 5in).
I run a 50 hp programmer. Don't think my model is available anymore.

Our china rides in a drawer with non-skid foam between each piece, we have plastic for general use and it rides fine and stays in place with only non-skid on shelf bottoms.
Really depends on your suspension and setup. Our first 5er bounced all over the road, until I upgraded shocks and tuned ride height. Current rig has been good since day 1.

My last 454 dually (with 4:10 gears) would match my &.3 diesel up to around 10K of 5er. Over 10K the 454 had issues with Cascade Mtns. Never saw above 6mpg when towing.

Fuel spills happen, wonder about fuel resistance of straps. My tank is bolted down, makes my dually a short bed for hauling other than 5er.

I'd get the 2000i and wait for the Companion. A second 2000i can be connected with either a parallel kit or some DIY expertise.
I was able to take Trailer Life ad to local Honda dealer and match ad price ($200 less than CW), plus have local Honda service.

The 91 I had was on its 3rd 4L80E and 4th torque converter by 75k miles, later models seemed OK. Was towing 10k loaded horse trailer.
