RE: Allstays camp & RV App

This app sounds good but is pricey ($5.99) Has anyone used it? Is is as good as it sounds? Do I want it?
Payed for apps are usually more current and the info is updated often. When you cost out your annual camping budget what's it worth to you for up to date info.
I have it and like it.

RE: STREET VIEW ON GOOGLE MAPS

I have a question about Google Maps. How often do they update their views? I just looked a location and the aerial view is at least 6 months outdated.
Then I looked at the street view and the picture is outdated by over 4 years.
Google is now re-doing most major cities. The car was seen in our city last month.

RE: STREET VIEW ON GOOGLE MAPS

The way it works with iPad is you have to drop a pin on the map then click it. A street view then pops up.

RE: Picture Disk HELP!!!!

What kind of disk did you burn. Did the session get 'finalized' on completion. It could still be open for additional files. Check it with the program you used to do the copying.

RE: Leaving home for long time

When my friend was gone for a few months the water tank on his toilet cracked, don't know why. Good thing the water was off otherwise the water would have run non stop.
You just never know what could happen.

RE: Have question regarding fixing trailer

Repair everything you can by yourself.
Do a good cleaning and scrubbing.
If you have to pay anybody else, forget it. That will eat whatever profit it would bring in.

RE: Campground related spam/phishing

Just bad timing is all.
I've had a few of those lately. They seem to go in waves, like some idiot got hold of a new toy and has to try it out.

RE: Nikon or Canon? I bought the....

That is just so, so true. It is the camera OPERATOR, not the instrument that takes the photo. However, almost all amateur photographers insist that an expensive camera is what they need, so when I did weddings, I used a medium format (2/14 X 2 3/4) to convince everyone I was competent. My 35 mm Nikon was eiser to use and just as good, but not as impressive.
This also why hack golfers spend $$$ on 'new and improved' clubs.

RE: Ipad or Android Tablet?

All these comments from people who don't own iPads and have no idea whats available to them.
I can plug my camera into iPad and transfer pictures. I can also use a card reader to transfer pictures.
I use Dropbox to transfer books, text, PDF files.
I can transfer files over WiFi or Bluetooth.
I can transfer full length movies, MP3s from my PC without going near iTunes.
I can use my iPod as a remote camera and use my PC monitor or iPad to view it over WiFi or Bluetooth.
I mostly use iTunes to do full backups.
I recently spent time looking at the iPad, the Kindle and other "readers", and the Galaxy tablets from Samsung that run the android operating system. I decided to stick with my netbook for the time being for several reasons.
The iPad with its lack of com ports without special cables that can only be connected one at a time was not appealing. Worse though is its forcing you to use iTunes for file management. Want to move pictures from a camera or other computer to the iPad, well Apple wants you to use the iTunes which is designed to control the flow of content to the iPad. Moving computer to computer Apple expects you to move data through Apple's private cloud where all the data is going to end up on the NSA computers in Ogden, UT.
I like the Android OS as it is open and there are thousands of apps if that is important. I have a problem with paying $600 for a tablet computer when my netbooks cost me under $500 and have a lot more features and capabilities and 4 times as much data storage space.
I may end up getting the least expensive Kindle for a reader as at under $100 it becomes a throw away device if it breaks as Amazon support is abominable, though Barnes and Noble is just as bad with their reader.
Start with what you expect to use the iPad or other device for while traveling and then go through the steps needed to make this work and all the costs involved, like an account with AT&T or Verizon or finding WiFi hotspots, and connectivity to other devices like smartphones and your other computers. A bit of work but you will avoid regrets and buyer's remorse, though some people love to collect gadgets and it is a recreational pursuit in and of itself and as hobbies go it is relatively harmless and does serve to keep them off the streets.
I agree at the end of ther day having to use Itunes for simple file transfers is the deal breaker for me.
I find I products to constrtaing and limited because everything must be done the I-way!

RE: storage compartment trays

Put me down as another who took out the sliding drawers.
It took up too much space.
Measure the cubic area of your compartment within an arms length when you reach in as far as you can. Chance are it will be more than what the whole drawer offers.

My dealer here in Ottawa says he only worries when it's going to be -10 for three days in a row.
I tend to worry a bit earlier but it gives you an idea of the extremes you can go on with fingers crossed.

Great find.
Thanks.
Did you notice if you high-lite text and do a right click you can pick "easy read" and it will display that text on a separate page, white on black.
