RE: Workhorse closing down

Where has anyone seen info that Workhorse Has produced any new chassis for almost 8 months now??? Not even the diesel chassis.
The plant was closed and Navistar said the production would be transferred to another plant, but has not announced any such reopening???
the WH web page still lists Winnebago as a builder on their chassis but no such animal in about 2 years according to the Winne site??
The Workhorse Chassis Motorhome club just held a rally in Texas, and no news came out of that about any new chassis. Also thje contact that the club had to Navistar and WH has been transferred to another job.

RE: Massena Kampground, Massena, NY - anyone been?

We used to stay there 15 years ago when it was a KOA, and have stayed there twice in the last 3 years as well under the new name. Very nice campground and it was always VERY CLEAN.
Would recommend to anyone.

RE: Conway, NH to St. Johnsbury, VT

We usually take route 302 out of North Conway and continue to I 93 near Littleton and stay on I 93. We have a 35 ft MH towing. One long hill part way, but no problem.

RE: Winnebago Adventurer

The correct answer is that Workhorse has not built a new chassis for motorhome use for almost a year now. Even the new diesel units coming out were from stock built up to a year ago. New units on display at the Tampa RV show in the winter were all date coded 6 months to a year prior to the MH construction date. They completely closed the plant where the MH chassis were built in Union City and Navistar the owner has set no deadline as to if any new ones will be built. They combined the WH name and an existing delivery van manufacturing plant and that the product they are making.

RE: Nova Scotia from Michigan

We have driven the route almost every different route possible, so thought you might want to go through Canada in one direction and back through the US in the other. You will pay a bit more for gas, but you will get to see a lot more new territory and not use the same route twice??

RE: Doghouse organizer/cup holder

I had our small one removed and replaced it with a custom one built especially to fit our dash. We only need two coffee holdes, smart phone, inverter stored in lower area, extended area for electronic picture frame when parked, key holder and place for our passports when we need them.
Sorry don't know how to post a picture.

RE: From Hagerstown, MD west; I-68 vs Penn turnpike

we drove the I 68 last year in the opposite direction and it was hilly, but not too bad. Much better than continuing south on I 77 and crossing the hills In West Virginia.
When I asked the same question 14 months ago, most suggested the I 68 was easier than the Pa Pike.

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

I had a new tray built for on top of the engine hump in our Gasser. The original one barely accomodated two coffe cups and some change, but the new one has recesses for my smart phone, my camera and keys, plus a lower shelf to put the electronic picture frame on when we are parked.
Anxious to try it out in less than two weeks.

RE: Traveling through Canada

Yes if you check on the map Canada is always above the USA, so its an up hill climb. Maybe if you hold the map upside down and read it backward??

RE: Ford Escape Report

I would put a tag on the fill stick for the transmission fluid to tell anyone servicing the unit, not to add any oil without the owners permission. I think a friend of mine did that just to be sure.

RE: Harrisburg to Myrtle Beach

We did that trip in Jul 2011 with no problems at all. we had a caravan of 8 units and were able to stay together. We love that section of 17 as the scenery is the best and a lot of it is divided highway now. We had no real waits at the jnuction with I 95. Would highly recommend this set of directions.

RE: Inspecting for supplemental braking systems in Canada?

The Canadian Customs agents do not inspect vehicles entering Canada on any safety related items that are controlled by Provincial legislation. They may inspect for a variety of other concerns, but auxillary braking sustems are not one of them

RE: tow car

I am quite sure that the early Ios were not towable with their automatic transmission. The first Saturn not to be towable. in later years they changed to allow it to be towed.

RE: Is supplemental braking systems required in Canada?

The offical position in Ontario is that a toad is NOT A TRAILER and therefore no extra braking is required. There is a document specifically on the GOVT web site and its states:
" Brakes are not required on towed motor vehicles, whether towed with a tow bar or on a dolly. Tow dollies do not require brakes whether or not the dolly is carrying a vehicle"
This is under a section Recreation vehicle information for Drivers of Motor Homes, Truck Campers, >>>>>>>>>>>> etc
It does not get any clearer than that.
I believe the regulation in BC is not that clear as it relates to the proportion of the weight of the toad with respect to the MH. I have not heard of any one being stopped for this anyhwere in Canada, but maybe it has happened.
Most of the info posted by the companies that make the aux braking systems refers to trailer towing, and at least in Ontario the definition does not apply.

RE: Georgetown or Allegro

I think when you compare price the Georgetown will be less expensive and you get great value for the money. No complaints about Tiffen other than most people end up taking their units to the factory for any repairs, which could be considered good or bad??
We have been very happy withbour Georgetown.
