RE: Motorhome Fire kills 3

Like the Phoenix tragedy, things like this serve as a reminder of what can happen if we are not diligent. Being prepared is paramount to safety. Let these two tragedies serve as notice to all of us to check our emergency "stuff". If you're putting off getting a TPMS just because, do it now. If you've never looked at your emergency windows and/or don't know how they function, take the time to educate yourself NOW...in time of emergency you won't have the luxury of "learning" how something works. We will never know whether either of these tragedies could have been prevented...but....
When seconds count...you don't have minutes.....be prepared, be safe...good reminders....Dennis

RE: Windshield - exterior sunscreens

Yes, I had them on my Dynasty for 5 yrs. When I sold it, I contacted them to put them on my Exec. We were at the Thousand Trails CG in PD and they came directly to the campground and custom made and installed them on site. I paid about $330 for the windshield, door and two side windows including the wiper covers. I don't use the mirror covers as I have these nifty American Flag covers for those....hope this helps...BTW I did go by the owner's house to have the ones made for the Dynasty. He has a converted two car garage that is set up to make the screens to whatever size and shape you need.....Dennis

RE: Making a spot free rinse stick

Dave, why did you choose a 1" section of PVC...:h..the Waterstick site shows theirs to be a 3". Does it make a difference..:h..if not, why not simply use 3/4 PVC end to end..:h...finally, Waterstick uses two types of resins inside their product. Does the Aquascape product do the same as both of theirs..:h..Thanks for taking the time to post...saving money is good...:B.....Dennis

RE: Making a spot free rinse stick

One thing I failed to mention is that your best bet for finding the needed supplies is to go to a plumbing supply store. The big stores (Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) don't have a clue about how to help you....... if you can even find anyone to talk to.
I forwarded this message to my daughter who is a supervisor at the Yuba City Home Depot...she was thrilled with your post..I'm sure your message will get passed on..:B:B:B.....Dennis

RE: over heated & Broke down, update now in Flagstaff

Bummer....:( Was hoping for some good news. Northern Arizona Diesel will take care of you well. While it will hurt for a little bit, (pocketbook wise) at least you'll have a nice new engine to break in.....be sure to have them look it over and see if there was something you did or did not do that caused it to lose compression. With the miles you had on it, it may simply have been it's time....glad you got some answers quickly....are you going home or staying in a hotel while you wait....???.....Dennis

RE: Diesel loss of power

Sandra, thanks for sharing what was wrong with your coach. While the exhaust brake is expensive, it's easy to replace. Consider upgrading to the PXRB, you'll be glad you did...not much extra but the benefit is great. I had a Dynasty with a 8.3 Cummins and it made a world of difference. I replaced mine myself in a campground in about 45 minutes so replacement is not a big deal. You're maybe looking at an hour or two diagnosis charge plus install labor...good luck and I'm glad it was something simple....the turbos are expensive....Dennis

RE: over heated & Broke down, update now in Flagstaff

For those of you who have experienced a small crack in the expansion tank, JB Weld is a good fix. But, you have to use the long drying stuff and let it sit overnight to cure correctly. Will last forever.....Dennis
Hope the Wizard gets some "good" news today.....D

RE: Beware in keys

Arrrgh, methinks Blackbeard may have underestimated the scalliwags at the RV Park. When you don't pay attention to the relentless tides of payments, your ship will often run aground. To have ye vessel towed anywhere is an expensive proposition. $2200 in the Keys actually sounds like something not to mutiny over. We hand to hand over treasure in that amount to have our schooner towed from Elkhart to the cummins Shop in Fort Wayne. When I got that bill I too wanted to bring her along broadside and let off a baragge of canon fire. I sure understand the punctuation and grammar errors in the original post, it is probably hard to type with a hook for one hand and a parrot sitting on the other. Maybe if Backbeard stomps the Park Harbor Master with his pegleg he will feel better.
Now THAT'S funny....thanks...:B:B:B....Dennis
Since the storage lot manager has agreed to pay $1100 of the bill I think it's reasonable. That said, think about this a minute...the OP is behind 3 mos in rent, thats what?.h maybe $300 bucks..:h:h..so he gets his coach towed and the towing company gets $2200 split 50/50 between OP and Park Mgr. Who made out on this whole fiasco???? Wasn't the OP, wasn't the Park Mgr....so...something still smells here...but in answer to the OPs question, yes, that's a reasonable fee to tow your coach based on where it was, how difficult it might have been to maneuver it out of your spot and how far it was towed. They base most of their charges on how long it takes from their facility until they return plus towing charges.....Dennis

RE: 96 Monaco Exec battery going dead while parked *RESOLUTION*

By removing the ignition switch you may have either grounded a wire somewhere or you've left a circuit open. When was the last time you used a meter on the batteries. If they are old it wouldn't take much to deplete them....Dennis

RE: Hwy 550 from Durango to Ouray, Colorado

No problem with the rig...your wife might not like it though. Going to Ouray is easier, IMHO than coming into Durango. Very pretty drive, but it will take all YOUR attention with the switchbacks, narrow sections, steep drop offs and no guard rails..but hey! you're supposed to stay ON the road...:B.....enjoy the trip...Dennis

RE: 93 safari continental friend want to buy

Wow! Too old???? You guys sound like my wife....:B:B:B.....IMHO, that was a good coach and the 300 B engine will outlast most of us on this forum. My Dynasty had 109,000 miles on her and was purring like a kitten. Is this the one located in Albuquerque NM..:h:h...interesting floor plan as I've never seen a coach with a front and side entry..if it's the one from Nashville, the guy says it's sold......Dennis
