RE: Best Parks in the Keys

NAS Key West is great. Spent the last 3 winters there. Blue Water rates START at $120 and go to about $160 for waterfront. PER NIGHT!

RE: VA Blue Ridge Pky, Flowers ?

I live at 1800 ft abs. About 20 miles west of BRP. We got home last Tues after being away six months and ALL of our flowers had already bloomed and wilted, including our Rhodes.

Take your checkbook. Blue water is the best but runs $120 and up per night.

RE: Beware in keys

Probably a big rig tow so $250 plus just to start it up. Then $200 or so an hour with a least an hour each way so we're at $650. Then $5 or $6 a mile so another $600. Time on scene to hook up another $75 to $300 depending on how difficult the vehicle was to access. Unhook the drive shaft soooooo $$$$$$$$.
Your towing insurance wouldn't pay a cent for your negligence in not paying the bill. It is almost a universal practice in the tow industry to accept CASH ONLY.
How many times do you think they'd get burned by a bad check or credit card dispute?

RE: WASHER DRYER INSTALL

I'm kind of thick. If the unit is not vented then where/how does the exhaust air from the dryer cycle get outside?

Call Red Bay and ask where the drain is located.

RE: what do you think of Full Body Paint ??

I've had both and would not consider another rig WITHOUT full body paint. Much easier to keep looking good.

RE: WASHER DRYER INSTALL

First, measure to make sure you can get the unit thru the door and that it will fit in the provided space.
You might have to take a chair out or even a window to get it inside.
Enlist some muscle to help out.
Vent it outside.
Make sure wiring is compatible.
Secure the unit VERY SECURELY.
We have a Splendide 2100 and use it all the time.
RV brand, floor model, etc will get better responses. For example my rig is a 2005 Itasca Meridian 36G.

RE: Fluid For Leveling Jacks

Rainer's right and he has been a certified master rv tech for years. The wipe down works temporarily, but just go around the problem.
HWH told me they do not recommend wiping down the pistons BUT if you must do so use a lint free cloth with ATF on it.
Springs are the cheapest thing to try first. Order them from HWH. They will ask you for the part number on your jack so crawl under and get a part number from a front jack AND a rear jack. They're different and require different size springs.
Be leery of anybody who advises the use of WD-40 as a lubricant. It is a water displacement spray named WD (water displacement) 40 (40th formula they tried).
It never fails to amaze me when a poster gets their knickers in a big wad when somebody with years of experience and lots of training gives an answer that the poster doesn't like. Why ask the question in the first place?

RE: Can't figure out how to install slide lock bars

That facia will pop right off if any amount of pressure is put on it by the 600-1000 pound slide decides to move. Worthless as it is. The label is there as well as the bar for liability reasons I would imagine.

Good reason to crank the generator and run the house air.

RE: Kingdome roof top Satellite

Have you reprogrammed the dish if you moved to a different part of the country? If not, that might be the problem.
Regarding trees. When I get to a CG I turn on my tv and directv and get it working in the reception area or other unobstructed spot. Then I move around in my spot just a few inches at a time until I pick up a signal.
I'm at Hunter Army Airfield Famcamp now under a heavy canopy of huge oak trees with spanish moss everywhere. The jockeying around got me a signal.
Regions was the word I was looking for! Thanks, Katoomer. And there are nine of 'em.

RE: Generator charging question

I owned two class C motor homes and the generators were not setup to charge batteries, only supply 130 VAC. I had to use a battery charger to charge my house battery.
Most gens aren't setup to charge chassis battery either making installation of a Trik-l-Start necessary.

RE: Boondocking

If possible buy a Honda, Yamaha, or other QUIET generator. One battery most likely won't last that long without recharging.
The fridge uses 12 VDC even when cooling on propane so if you use any juice at all things will likely get pretty dark by the second night.

RE: Securing Genturi to side of coach - How did you do it?

I used the suction cups for a couple of years and this winter in Key West finally riveted the brackets on. Took about 20 minutes.
The rubber strap will slide up and down on the Gen-Turi if that helps.

RE: rv parks near lakes,in calf,az,utah

Dogs and swimming not allowed in many CA lakes because they are drinking water supplies for cities down below. Many way up are VERY cold anyway.
Go up the eastern Sierras. Lots of lakes with campgrounds right next to them.
Never figured out the dog prohibition since all of mother nature's creatures do their "thing" in the water.

RE: Sleep number mattress issue(s)

I had mine apart to install a new single control pump but really didn't pay any attention to the bladders. Any chance they are made with a top side and bottom side and they are installed upside down?
We have a $2000 mattress set in our house that is awful. We've had it replaced twice under warranty and it Is qstill horrid. We get home next week after six months on the road and other than the yard work which I detest, our mattress there is a close second!

RE: Analysis of battery/charging times using generator...

A little Honda or Yamaha 2000 watt gen inverter will cut your fuel use down to about a gal of gasoline every five hours.
There is NO way I would head out for four months knowing I had bad batteries.
