RE: How to break the ice with our CG neighbors?

Ask a question about something of theirs.
People love to talk about their passions, and campers have no lack of stuff.
Just a "Wow, I've never seen one of those" or "I thought about getting one of those" is guaranteed to spark up a lengthy conversation.

RE: TriCare and TriCare for Life going up 435% next year.

I realize this won't be the most popular response here... but I say do it.
In an article I read it quoted the cost of a retired Lt. Col who is paying $460 a year for his family's medical. That is the same that an E6 pays, even though the Col's retirement is MUCH more then the enlisted.
So what I say is figure out what percentage $460 is for a retired E6 and apply that percentage across the board. Balance the whole thing out. Make that retired O5 pay the same percentage that E6 pays.
That should add some $$$$ to the pot.

RE: Theiving Season

Has nothing to do with economy...Poor excuse made for a thief. A thief wants something for nothing in good economic times as well as bad.
Wrong. In tougher economic times, crime rates increase. Some who wouldn't think of turning to theft find themselves in situations that they believe they have no choice but to turn to crime to resolve.

RE: Clothes falling off closet bar

If the hangers have a "lip" (slight bend at the end of the open part of the hanger)... put a rubber band around the "neck" of the hanger. Hang it on the rod. Now connect the rubber band under the rod to the open end of the hanger - assuming the open end of the hanger has a slight "lip" that will hold the rubber band.

RE: Interesting campers while camping

Just saw what had to be one of the first campers ever conseived. Covered wagon that is. Coming home from Ceral City saw this fellow giving his horses a break on the side of the road. He was even towing double, had a smaller trailer behind the wagon with horse feed.
It wasn't Mr. Skelding by any chance?

RE: What is up with Dogs not on Leash

Raleigh, N.C. — Law experts say that the city may be successful in charging a Raleigh man with assault with a deadly weapon because his two pit bulls he was keeping attacked a 6-year-old boy last week.
From THIS article.
What action would I take if an uncontrolled animal charges at my family?
The general criminal law allows for the use of deadly force anytime a faultless victim reasonably believes that unlawful force which will cause death or grievous bodily harm is about to be used on him.
Sorry about your dog.

RE: Towing a car behind the truck and TC?????

From U-Haul Tips The vehicle-in-tow steering wheel must be locked. If the vehicle is not equipped with locking steering column the steering wheel will have to be tied securely.

RE: Towing a car behind the truck and TC?????

The lockable steering thing confuses me. When you turn off the car the steering wheel doesn't lock in place?
What difference would that make when you are putting the front wheels on the dolly? Your car is front wheel drive, right? So the back wheels freely roll along with the fronts on the dolly towed behind your truck.
Or am I missing something?

RE: Any Full-Timers traveling in Truck-Campers?

I met a couple that did. I asked them if they lived in the TC, they replied "Oh no, that's just the bedroom". They considered the outdoors their living room.

RE: How do you start a camp fire?

Dryer lint with wax and a wick.
LINK
I actually just pour the wax in with the lint and put some string as a "wick" laying across the top so I can light it at both ends.
