I got good news from the doctor today

Today I went to see a specialist for post polio. My left leg is the worst from the polio. After his exam he said that my post polio is not the main problem right now. He said that my left knee is shot, kaput, done for. I need a knee replacement. That's good news to me because now the biggest part of my leg pain can be repaired. This happened so gradually that I was blaming the post polio for my leg pain. He said I would still need a brace but not until my knee is replaced.
I'm very familiar with knee replacements and what is involved. In 1997 my wife had both knees replaced at the same time. Then two years ago she had one of the replacements replaced. Now she needs the other knee replaced too. I think the knee doctor should give us the family plan discount. :W

Philadelphia in the mid fifties

I thought some of you might enjoy seeing this.
a Mid-Fifties slice of life and landscape in Philadelphia and its surrounding towns.
With excellent color footage of downtown scenes, neighborhoods, the Mummers Parade,
Levittown, factories in Camden, NJ and many other subjects that can no longer be seen.
It was produced at the time by WPTZ Channel 3 and now known as KYW CBS 3. Pete Boyle Sr., father of Pete Boyle, cast member of Everybody Loves Raymond, had a children's show and is briefly shown in this clip. Some good shots of Dock St. as well.Notice too that all the cars shown are American!

RE: 3M glue removal on my truck

You could also try some heat. A hair dryer and if that doesn't work try a heat gun. Start low and work your way up to more heat.

RE: Do you ever do this ?

Fish N Grits, My wife had both her knees replaced at the same time. That was back in 1997. Two years ago she had to have one of the replacement knees replaced. The doctor said it came out in pieces. Now her doctor says the other one needs to be replaced too. That will be done some time this summer. She was up and walking the next day.
Knee replacement won't work for me. My problem is from having polio back in 1949/1950. Now its back and they call it post polio syndrome.

RE: Do you ever do this ?

I use my cane in my right hand. My wife has had both knees replaced and her doctor said to use the cane on the opposite side. So far it seems to be working for me. I also believe that one size does not fit all,so go with works best for you.
When we go to the big box stores I go right to the scooters. If they don't have any scooters left I go back to the car or truck and wait for my wife to get done with her shopping.

Do you ever do this ?

Using my cane really helps my left knee/leg. Some times my leg feels so much better that I will forget my cane. But it doesn't take very long to realize I don't have it. Then I have to try to remember where I left it. :h

I think we need some keepers

I'm 70 and my wife will be 69 in June. We both take blood pressure meds. One of the meds is Lasix. It is a diuretic. She takes one forty mg a day and I take two 40 mg a day. So today she got our meds and was going to bring me mine after she took hers. Without thinking she took all three pills. :E Her doctor already has her on potassium,so that should help and she has been drinking a lot of water today. We also had baked potatoes for dinner so a little more potassium.

RE: Would you do anything different?

I had to go on SS disability before I was 62. I'm 70 now. I got 100% as if I was 65. My problem is with my legs too. It is post polio syndrome. I had polio back in 1949/1950.
You might want to talk with your lender about modifying your loan/mortgage. Try to get a lower interest rate and/or change the clause about not renting. You can also see if you can get an advocate to represent you for free. Check with any lawyers office. They could point you in the right direction if nothing else.
One more thing about your insurance at work for three years. I had that too and the money I got from SS was deducted from what I got from the insurance. I don't know if yours works like that but just a heads up.
I wish you the best my friend.

RE: Would you do anything different?

Maybe you can rent your house for enough to cover your mortgage. Or so you don't have so much to pay each month.

RE: Lease a new car???

I have never leased either but I did research it many years ago. At that time it was suggested that you get what they called gap insurance. It was to cover what total loss insurance didn't cover. I think that all your lease payments never cover what the car is worth. So the gap insurance covers the difference.
This may not be the exact explanation but it gives you the jest of it (I think).:h

RE: locked out of Suburban

My factory code is on a label on the fire wall way up behind the radio. You have to stand on your head under the dash or remove the radio. My truck is a 2006. Just three years older then yours. So maybe yours might be up there too. Good luck. :B
One more thing. I'm sure your dealer could run your VIN number and get the code that way too. Not sure but it doesn't cost anything to ask.

RE: locked out of Suburban

On the Fords you can change the code any time and as many times as you want. Also the factory code is never deleted. So you always have two codes that will unlock your door.

RE: locked out of Suburban

Why didn't you get the touch key pad on the door. You set the code number punch in that number and the door is unlocked. I have that on my Ford diesel dually. Works great.

Would changing servers make a difference?

I had Direct TV for eight years. Yesterday I had Verizon Fios installed for TV. I already have Verizon phone and internet. My Direct TV bill has gone up to $90.00+ a month. My Verizon phone and internet is $67.00+ a month. Now my Verizon bill is $124.00 a month for the same tv package I had from Direct. This change is saving me $50.00+ a month.
Now for my question. We have noticed a big change in the volume on the tv with the Verizon service. We used to have the volume in the high 20s to the low 30s with 100 the max. Now with Verizon we have the volume in the teens to low twenties. This is on all channels with the same tvs. Could Verizon fiber optics do this? The hi def is way better too with the fiber optics.
