RE: You MIGHT be an RV'r if . . .

If getting up at an early hour and hitting the open road makes you smile. The crisp morning air and the lack of traffic awaiting the sunrise.

RE: Four wheel drive or two wheel drive?

It depends on how you will use it or where you live. We 4x4 as we have dry camping on the ocean and you need it to pull the TT over the dunes. Also our winters here can be a real pain with the amount of snow we get. So we use our vehicle year round both for towing the TT and daily use. We have drivine from Maine to Florida with the TT in tow without any issues and actually needed 4x4 to get in and out of a spot in NH. Our next tow vehicle will be a 4x4 as well. Th eonly decison will be gas or diesel.

RE: Cape Cod Camping

Thank you everyone!!! Ever since I started Rving again and whenever I put a shout out for a park, you guys alsways provide good advice. My DW has decided that we should go back to capecodcampingresort and we will sight see from there. We have some business up Boston way so it might be better that we stay at the top fo the arm....

RE: Cape Cod Camping

We stayed at Cape Cod Camping Resort and enjoyed it. We also stayed at Peters Pond Rv Resort and didnt like it. Peters Pond has sites that were sold with park units on them and the people at the end of our street, did not like anyone driving by them. There kids were all over the street and left there bikes, electric cars etc in the way. When you drove by the guy would give you the look. Also this being on a pond, the jet skis go round and round ALL day. Not a quiet place.

Camping in Gloucester Ma

Greetings: Need to be up north last week in August and I am looking for a CG near Boston on the north side. Any experiences or thoughts about CG's north of Boston would be appreciated. Happy Trails

RE: Towing input needed for 32 ft camper w/ expedition

The first couple times out when you look in the mirror youll say god this is long! But its really a breeze. Make wide turns and own your lane. We tow 27ft and I have used the reese dual cam hp from the begining and its a very good hitch and I have never had a sway issue and we have drivine in all kinds of weather. The Hensley is the cadallac of hitches, but Im very happy with mine. Once your set up, try camping close to home for a couple of shake down weekends and buy or chuck what you dont need. We even hitched up just for the day and visited a state park which was nice. Above all its suuposed to be fun, dont get stressed out should something go amiss, relax as there is always someone around to help you!

RE: Looking for Campground no more than 8 Hrs from CT

As your north like we are on Long Island, try Cherrystone in Cheriton VA. Youll love it and the kids will to. Maybe 9 hours but they are easy once you turn onton 13 south, its like a step back in time. Cherrystoneva.com. We are actually thinking of doing a 4 day weekend. 2 travel and 2 at the cg. Love the place.

RE: Satellite TV Dish

I have been using a portable dish on a tripod for years and never had a problem. In even one instance I had to set it two sites over to clear the trees. The people next to me didnt mind. We were gone all day at the amusement parks. No Issues. Now those little set on the ground new dishes they have I wouldnt leave that out thats easy to steal

RE: home dump station ?

I like Boatycalls response. But why fertilize the yard their would be a much greater impact if it flowed into his car.... I have a large drywell connected to my gutters which essentially is a cesspool with out a septic tank that can be used for that. So far Ive never had to as I always find a place to dump and flush the tank before I get home.

RE: Roof Coating - Finally applied bedliner to my roof & pics

I used amesresearch.com liquid rubber on mine. I came to this as my basement was leaking from the outside in. Not wanting to dig up and waterprrof fromt he outside I reseached and found this company. My basement has been high and dry for years. So if it works with water pressure it would work on roofing and it has there as well.

RE: Propane on or off

Travelling with the gas on deals with the flame blowing out and the rv filling with lp. My refrig had a kit to install to prevent blowing it out. It was a shield that went over the pilot hole. I travel with the gas on to keep the frig/freezer cold. As for gas stations, sometimes I turn it off other times I doent. My refer is so far back that I have never had any gas fumes back there. i usually park on the outside of the islands. If I cannot and th eonly space is inside with other cars fueling, you can usually smell the gas in the air. I turn it off. Typically no big deal as wife has to pee, so she hits it off and on when we are ready to leave.

RE: Why don't more families "motorhome" vs "travel trailer"?

I would love to, be we off road camp and you cannot take a moho on the beach. There are a couple of class c's with the 4x4 conversion which is a temptation along with one chap that has a truck camper c with 4wd 30ft and he has no problem on the sand. We may end up with something like that. But I do fantasize about going down the road in a 35-40ft pusher. We may just rent one to go around the country

RE: Beach Vacation

Myrtle Beach is a good first choice for you as its like the RV capitol of the east. Many Cg's to pick from and everyone has their favorite. Ours was Pirateland we went to 5 spring breaks in a row. Our daughter loved it there. Google Myrtle Beach Campgrounds or search on RV net and you will find a wealth of information. Have a great time!

RE: Lake view camping

We stayed at Danforth Bay on Lake Ossippee, NH. Great Park. We had a lake view through the trees. Go to the website and look at the cg map and pick your spot. I would go back there again.

RE: ocean front camping in the northeast

We stayed at Camp Hatteras in the OuterBanks. Expensive but they have an oceanfront side, that we stayed on and a bayfront side across the street. There are bayfront sites directly on the water with forever burning sunset views. On the ocean side the dune is to tall so you can hear it, but not see the water. It was a very nice park and I would go again but my only peave is that even though they charge an huge amount for the summer,($80+/-night) they tack on another $3 for cable. I declined as I have satellite. But wouldnt you know when I was setting up my site the came and checked me out to see if I really was satellite and not hooking up to the cable box! We also stayed at Bar Harbor KOA as others have mentioned. I to try to get on the water or have a view when I travel.

RE: How many miles would you travel in 1 day?

Going to Disney in Ft WIlderness from Long Island, NY, I did push it down the highway and did a 500 mile day. Thats a big day and I was itred afterwards. Otherwise I stop driving at around the 8 hour mark and thats how we plan our over the roads around 350+/- miles depending on traffic clogs.

RE: Diesel vs gas......................

Im with Paul CLancy, though I drive a gasser 454cu in a 2500 Suburban, towing without straining is priceless. The lack of stress during the journey is a big part of rv'ing. Setting up the tow vehicle to match the rig your pulling is a big part of the equation. Whenever we hit the road, I always see someone pulling to much rig with too little a vehicle. Eventually we would like to trade up to a fifth and when that happens, it will be a diesel for the torque and better fuel mileage.

RE: fort wilderness plans

The Park Hopper pass is a great deal. We didnt do the meal plan. We started each day with breakfast at the CG, and brought food with us. We also were there in July and its hotter than the sun. We purchased a camelback to hold water, a dire comodity. We ate out, but we also went to the grocer and came back, cooke dinner in the cg, then went either to epcot or magic kingdom for evening fireworks. FW is the most expensive cg, however it was worth it. In Ft WIlderness is the Hoop De Do Review. Dinner and a show. It was fanatastic. We paid for the premium seats and yes the actors did include us in the skit. A load of fun! Bring water with you and fill up the camel backs and have a great time!! We did!!

RE: 15k RV Ac - Generator needed to run?

Camping World sells a "hard start kit" It is a larger capacitor so it holds more charge when your plugged in. So when you flip the switch on the ac it comes to life. You just need to wait a minute after you plug in to charge it up. Remove ac case unplug old cap, install new cap, its simple. I have used the honda 3000i now for 6 years, no problem. AC, Satelite tv, cold beer! Living Large:C
