RE: Air Conditioner Relocations

Check the install specs for your model- most cannot be installed nose down.

RE: Comfort Control Setting on Duo Therm a/c

Is it ok to run the a/c in one of the low, medium or high positions instead of auto? Yes.

RE: Front AC unit kills generator when compressor kicks on

Just checking- you cannot run that unit with the shroud removed- if you do it will trip the breaker or overload within a couple of minutes, because air is not pulled through the outside coils.

RE: Air Conditioning

I think you have an airflow problem- leaking ducts plus air recirculating. The compressor should not be cycling like that. Run the thing for a while, remove the filter and stick your hand carefully up in to the air return- I bet you will feel a lot of cold air leaking from the supply. I would also check coils, filters, etc. That unit will probably be marginal at best, but it does sound like it has installation issues.

RE: Heat Pump/AC electrical question

Theoretically, the 2 modes draw the same current, but due things like coil sizes, air flow over coils, and temperatures, there will be differences.

RE: Victron BMV-600 - Which side of Shunt to put Chasis Ground?

The only connection to the battery must go through the shunt, so the chassis ground goes on the bussbar side.

RE: Dometic fridge stopped cooling..HELP!!

Try turning it off for a couple of hours, then back on. They will get vapor locked, and letting the pressures equalize will fix that.

RE: Dometic RM 2612, not cooling on either source

A note- I would not recommend hot wiring the unit and leaving it unattended- when you hot wire, you bypass all of the safety items that the recall added to shut the thing down before catching fire. The "approved" Dometic way is to unplug the thermister, test the heating element resistance (~44 ohms), test the voltage going to the heating element, and let it run.

RE: Problem with furnace

That black stud actually says "Manual Reset" beside it, what does it do? I was thinking that there might be a breaker or fuse somewhere blown, could these be located somewhere else? Thanks! That is a circuit breaker, though there will also be one at s main fuse panel. I'm pretty sure it should be flush with the surface in a set position (though not 100% certain). I would remove the cover beneath that and check for 12 volts through it. Pretty much 12 volt power comes in there, then goes out through the thermostat and a couple of limit switches right to the gas valve. The blower is strictly on a thermal fan switch- the thermostat calls for heat, the gas valve opens. Once it has heated up the fan switch closes and the blower comes on and blows until it cools down.

RE: Problem with furnace

On that model the blower does not come on until the thing is hot- the burner is a gravity burner, with no blower. It does need good 12 volt power- second to the bottom pic- that black stud is a 12 volt breaker- make sure it is in. There are also 2 limit switches- I think one of them is a manual reset on the right side of the blower housing. It goes without saying that this furnace needs to be inspected and probably cleaned, simply due to its age, though they built them heavy back then.

RE: Refrigerator interior light

fridge is used to cool....so we leave the light on to warm kind of an oximoron...isn't it? It is for use in freezing weather to keep the freezer portion cold. What happens is in very cold weather, the cooling unit doesn't have to work to keep the fresh food cold, and because it is the same unit for freezer and fresh food, but the only temperature sensing is in the fresh compartment, the freezer gets too warm. By adding heat to the fresh compartment, it forces the cooling unit to run more, keeping the freezer cold enough. my Dometic fridges have both had light turns off no matter what position my little switch below the freezer is in. Yours is a CLC or climate switch, which just turns on a heater between the doors for condensation. If you had 2 switches, you would have the LAT switch as well.

RE: Upgrading 30A to 50A 7kw Generator

A 7kw genset will not provide 50 amp service, because 50 amp service is 12kw. The most you can get is a 30 amp plus a 20 amp, which you should have already.

RE: Paralell 12v Water pumps...?

For the standard Shurflo, you will be able to pump 5.6 gallons per minute, though it would be at the same pressure, and you would likely never see the increased flow, as you would have to open 3 - 2 gpm faucets fully to get that much water out. I've seen it done on bus conversions- as much for redundancy as flow, with each pump able to be isolated.

RE: Question About Slide Toppers

Nah, I don't think so. Supporting the tube will not keep the water from pooling in the middle of the fabric, which was the topic of conversation. Um- yes it will, and in fact, it does. And a center rafter in an awning runs the depth of the awning supporting the fabric, this device just supports the slide topper tube, not the fabric itself. Not if it is installed correctly- the fabric does not touch the rafter. The rafter just holds the tube straight. I really do know what I am talking about.

RE: Question About Slide Toppers

The fabric isn't the issue- this type of vinyl really doesn't stretch much. The problem is the tube bows- same as using a center rafter on the main awning.

RE: Question About Slide Toppers

It has rollers on it to cradle the tube at all times- open or closed.

RE: Rewiring brake system

I would use #12-2 brake wire and run separately to each side (though not to each wheel).

RE: Question About Slide Toppers

Dometic makes a center cradle support for that- required on slide toppers over 16.5 feet, but can be used on any- http://bryantrv.com/images/temp/rvnet/toppercradle.png
