RE: Up date on gas tank replacement

I was waiting in a Costco line, so the owner could fill his Prius with 7 or 8 gallons of fuel, saving about $0.25 per gallon ($2 total saved) over going to another gas station with no lines down the street. Thinking what a waste of time to save $2.If the owner of the Prius was not interested in saving money, why would they drive a Prius? BTW, we drive a Prius. I still look for the lowest price even though it costs me less than half what other people are paying to travel. We average about 52MPG (for real) and I will bet the national average is less than 25. But we make it up when we drive the MH. :( You were just upset that you had to wait behind them. :B

RE: Dolly towing new Prius

We have a 2011 Prius but we have not tried to dolly tow it yet. We did have almost the same problem with a Saturn Vue towing 4 down. I left on the parking brake and skid the rear wheels down our driveway. Luckily the driveway is gravel. Got the same "check engine" light and error code. Wheels were spinning at different speeds!

RE: Towing Accident -- Titan/Hensley/Airstream Combo

We were once towing a 30' trailer that weighed about 8,000 pounds with a Dodge 2500 CTD and had a serious sway problem. It had sway control but not Hensley. The issue that caused the sway was a sudden dip in the road on only one side. The TT was all over the road, DW was driving and almost lost it. I had not trained her on how and why to use the trailer brakes. From the description of the accident, the same thing MAY have happened to the driver when he pulled off of the main road. The shoulder could have been lower than the pavement causing the trailer to suddenly sway. We had the whole road to recover, he had a gaurd rail in his way. Accidents happen, the main concern is the safety of the people. I am glad they were safe.

RE: Sig won't show up when I post, only if I start a thread.....

I think they have the site programmed so that your signature only shows up once per page. It will show up on the first post but not the third. This saves screen space and bandwidth.

RE: Tundra Towing ability...or lack thereof?

We used to tow a 30' with the 4.7L Tundra. You will have no problems with the two TTs you have listed. I do not remember the weight of our trailer but it was over 6,500. With the 5.7 and the larger Tundra, you can handle a fair sized rig.

RE: IPAD2 VS Samsung(Verizon) +WIFI 3G or the rest.....

We have had an IPad 2 for about 2 weeks. I am a geek but I was getting tired of my Android phone needing to be rebooted so we are giving Apple a chance. So far it is very nice. We have the WiFi only version. I have read that I can tether that to my cell phone for Internet access but I have not tried it yet. Pros: Bullet proof apps, easy interface, large selection of apps, great screen Cons: Expensive, poor cameras, WiFi only does not include a GPS receiver.

RE: super singles

There was a DP in the park for a few days that had 4 Super Singles in place of the 4 sets of duals in the rear. Did'nt get name. Gotta be a chore to find a replacement for a blown one out in the boonies. Fronts were normal sized for the rig.If the rig was set up with dualies, the rear would have two axles with two tires on each. I have not seen any MHs with that set up but that does not mean they don't exist. The tag axle is almost always one tire on each side. Using two super singles on each side would give more carrying capacity than a normal three tires on each side. Interesting configuration.

RE: Virginia to add Tolls on I-95

Two Questions: What percentage of the toll goes to the collection of the fee? In other words, is it more expensive to collect tolls than a gas tax?Is it in writing where the funds will go?General Funds for the StateRoad Funds for the stateFund for I95 only This could make a difference on whether the Interstate is kept maintained or not. The article was not clear on this subject, just mentions their intents.

RE: Kingpin Box has Broken weld

I used to own a 5er and now have a gas Class A. The difference in the frames is night and day. I know the Class A is heavier but now by a whole bunch. Mine may weigh about 18-20K, many 5ers weigh that much. The 5er we had was a '05 Laredo and it had frame issues. Got rid of it before I found out how bad. It had patches in the frame before we purchased it (my fault for not seeing them) and interior problems in the bedroom (cracked wood framing and plywood). They need to put better frames on the 5ers. The problem is that it may add 10-20% to the cost and weight. Would you pay the difference?

RE: black water coming from kitchen & bathroom faucets

My guess is a carbon filter that has failed. even by the "remote" chance a carbon filter failed it would be particles of black water not solid black and not continuously as the OP has stated.Iam assuming as the OP says that he ran the water for a very long time and it stayed dirtyThis happened to me and it does put out a very black water. I did run it for about 5 minutes and it continued to be black. Changed the filter and all was well.

RE: Windows 7 Disappointing

It is difficult for new versions of an OS to support all existing (aka - legacy) software. Here is a page at Microsoft that may help. Hope this helps. Clicky

RE: Winnebago Service........NOT !!!!!

Winnebago's first critical mistake was using a tail light used by the '02-'04 Toyota Camry, which would make it a special target for thieves. I cannot believe that such a supposedly responsible manufacturer would make such a bone headed decision. I suspect that is the reason that Winnebago is out of the bracket. There have probably been more thefts than they are willing to admit. If you have an Itasca Sunrise or Winnebago Voyage with Camry tail lights, keep a close watch on them.I have a 2007 Voyage that has the same tail lights. They could have used a custom tail lights and added a couple hundred to the price of the rig. Why would the use of readily available OEM parts be a bad decision? The problem is not the use of the Camry lights but the lack of Winnebago parts. Yes, they should have had some parts on the shelf. But that cost money and again, would add to the cost of a rig. I used to work in the auto parts distribution business. Nothing we hated worse than to have a part sitting on the shelf taking up space in the warehouse, stock turn over was the name of the game. What would be the demand for that part? One or two sets per year? I am sorry for your problem. Take it to a shop and they should be able to get something to work; even if they have to use duct tape.

RE: Another edition of idiots on parade

How about the idiots in the NE complaining to elected officials about the power companies not restoring power quickly enough after Irene? Newsflash morons, the roads and bridges are gone. Just how do you plan on getting them there to fix the downed lines? The first part of the news story showed repair crews from as far away as Colorado. It was about 4 days after the storm. Then the people in CT (at least according to the news) were complaining that they still did not have power. Do they know how long it takes to put together a crew and equipment and then drive from CO to CT? One power company executive talked some truth. To avoid the problem in the East, with all of the trees, they should put the power lines underground. But no one will pay for it. I wonder if he still has a job? I live in the East where we have power outages due to hurricanes, tropical storms, icing, car accidents, etc. We plan for it; have a generator and store supplies. I live on an island and we left during the storm. Why would I go to an island during a storm? :h

RE: RVing With Small Children

You are close. My suggestions would be NPs, Jellystone, and maybe KOA. Fort Wilderness (Disneyworld) has kids everywhere but King Dominion CG had very few.

33' Escape Pod

We used our MH as an escape to avoid dangers of Irene. We live on an island where the roads flood. Moved MH to church parking lot off of the island and boondocked. We are better off than most residents of the area. We have power, a/c, hot water, etc. Hope everyone came out safely.

RE: my roof ac unit will not work while driving

We may need more information to give an answer. What rig are you driving? Which generator do you have, what is its output? Dumb question, but will the genny run while you drive? That could be another issue all together. The rooftop ACs will not run off of the chassis motor, you have to run the generator while going down the road. Welcome to the forum.

RE: Raccoon(s) are back... and making a big mess!!!

We have had an issue with them getting our cats, feral and domestic. I am not sure it was the raccoons or the fox. We started a Raccoon Relocation Program (live trap and take 10 miles away). That has helped. We do not want to use the repellants because we have feral cats that we feed. We have captured them and had them fixed. Had a raccoon on the porch the other day but noticed it was currently feeding young. We will wait awhile and capture her and maybe the babies. Th fox? I used a 20 gauge to chase it away. Have not seen it in awhile. We have a small dog that could not defend herself against a fox. They are also known to carry rabies in this area.
