RE: The Big Bang Theory

No one has mentioned the rule in/when connecting jumper cables. Connect the PLUS first at the batt post... then the NEG to a distance bare heavy metal place on the engine... i.e. if there is a spark it will be remote frim the expolosive gases of the batt. On disconnect.. do unconnect this distance NEG cable forst in case there is a spark as the curcit is broken.

RE: The Big Bang Theory

I have one blow a cap off while on charger.. for shipping the vent holes in each cap had sealing tape on them and the heat of charging created steam pressure and softened the tar holding each cell in those old bakslite cases.. the center cell lifted up about one inch,, held in by lead cell joint straps.. then one cap blew..stripped threads. Another.. bought older MoHome.. old big 12v starting batt.. I had'nt checked water level.. had pluged in 120volt so charger was working.. cells very low on water..batt in slide rack under steps.. loud boom one cell dry..cap blew off.. old batt and very dirty all over top and caps..

RE: Towing a Triumph TR 4 down

If I remember right.. there is a fill plug on the side casting of the transmission that you fill to that level,, remove and change that to a street elbow which raises the gear oil up about inch and a quarter.. when the trans is in neutral as towing,, the cluster gear is not spinning throwing lub all over all the bearings.. the hiher oil level will let the rear spinning stub shaft throw some lube around.. oK FOR local bring it home towing but for all day and hundreds of miles??????

RE: adding an inverter where is yours?

I have a 400W one in the minivan.. has 18" power cord so it can lay on the floor. Used a heavy duty cig ltr socket from the truck stop and wired with 30A in line fuse and another wire to ground #10 wire..
Got power from 30a wire on CB to power the power seat. Mounted socket to seat leg. I don't like the small plug in type that stick out of the dash area. This lies down flat.. use it to power camping trailer lights during set up till I get hooked up. Or small power tools at work. Or TV and games when grandkids are along and chargings all their toys. Run # 8 wire for power and ground for you 500w and 40 amp fuse placed close to the batt. to guard the length of the hot wire run. I have not seen a larger than 30A cig lighter socket so don't know how you can do a plug in set up. The grandkids and friends used van for threeday trip with all their laptops etc... great but forgot to turn off the inverter while in the motel.. batt dead in morning.
