RE: "Summerizing" a park model in Florida

We've owned a park model/mobile home for over 25 years and we've never left
electricity on and always turned off the water at the source. All I've ever
done is cover the toilet with saran and buy the mildew preventitive sacs
that you buy in Walgreens. They are the last thing you do before you lock
the doors. Be sure to open the package and pull out the baggie inside.
I clothespin it on a clothes hanger from the highest spot in the room.
I use about 5-8 of them. They give off a gas so that mildew won't form and
also if anyone breaks into the house, the gas will bother their eyes so that
they will have to get out. I believe they're called sunpacs and I've always
bought them at Walgreens in the home supplies section.
We've NEVER had a spot of mildew and the house is always fresh when we get
back after 6 months away. That's it!! Other than leaving it clean and the
frig empty and open. One other hint, hang the rubber backed bath mat over
the tub. Leaving it on the floor seems to ruin the backing.

RE: Dumb it Down -- Ferry Info

Ferry rates are expensive....however, it will be a trip that will stay with
you forever.
If you took a cruise vacation for 3 weeks, you'd be looking at over $6,000 for
a room with no window with everything included, but I bet you'll have more fun
in Newfoundland. Ferry rates are cheap.

RE: medical insurance in Canada for non residents

If we (Canadians) are going to the US, I would not cross the border without
having travel insurance from an independent company (not our Provincial Govt
Medical Plan). I would also feel that the opposite is true. If Americans
come into Canada, they should DEFINITELY check with their health insurance
companies before they cross the border.
We had purchased insurance before we left for Florida in 2009. My husband
had a sudden flu like illness which put him in hospital for 3 days at a total
billed cost of $48,l0l. Thanks be to Insurance. Two days after he got home
(to our RV in Largo) he had a stroke which landed him back in hospital for
another 3 days....I never saw that bill.....Thanks be to Insurance.
You can never be too sure....check before you leave your country to go anywhere!

RE: Black & Decker Breadmaker Recipes

I bought a new B&D breadmaker - can't remember the model, but I never
use it to cook in. I always use the dough cycle (9) and it takes
about l l/2hrs, I form the loaf into bread pan, french loaf or rolls
and it's great.
My recipe for white is:
l l/4 c warm water
3 l/3 cups white flour
l l/2 t salt
2 T sugar (or splenda)
2 T butter/margarine or oil (I use butter)
l l/2 t yeast
Makes a large loaf or 2 small or l6 rolls (bread pan).
Takes about l l/2 to 2 hrs to raise and then bake at 350 for
25 minutes. 20 minutes for rolls.

RE: Purchase of Canadian trailer by US Citizen

If you are exporting a vehicle from the US to Canada (motor vehicle)
you are required to send/fax the title 72 hours in advance to the
US border where you are crossing.....this is to make sure it's not
stolen and whatever else. A travel trailer is not a motor vehicle.
However, having said that, just call the border in Canada telling
them the story and also the border crossing where you're entering.
It's a simple procedure that will take minutes to settle your mind.
They are very helpful and that's part of their job. Don't forget we
have free trade between borders. In Canada we only pay GST at the border coming into Canada - no duty. I'm sure it's as easy going the
other way. Don't put it off any longer - call today and get your
mind settled.

RE: Good Sam RV Emergency Road Service

We have had GS ERS for the past 8 years. We used them twice with
wonderful service both times. They are courteous to deal with and
extremely helpful.
Last month was the last time we used the service. We were in Fredericton, New Brunswick and not having my cell phone with me I
went to use the phone at "Heavens Salon", next door to the parking lot. The agent made the arrangements and when I asked him his name,
he replied, "Angel". Spooky.

RE: Purchase of Canadian trailer by US Citizen

We have imported many trailers to Canada from the US. I think it's a matter of
the purchaser making a couple of telephone calls. The customs officers are very
helpful and it makes things so much easier right from the get go. Eliminates the guesswork up front.

RE: Distracted Driving legislation

In New Brunswick it is also against the law to use hand held cell
phones, texting, etc. As well as a fine, also 3 points off your
license. Started the lst of June I believe. Lots of stopped cars
now on the side of the road....which in my opinion could also cause
accidents, especially when they pull over on a blind knoll on a 2 lane
road. I wonder how we ever made out a few years ago when we missed
a phone call.

RE: Driving Eastern Canada (Any Suggestions)

If you do decide to go to Newfoundland, Lil Kopit will give you the number
to call for the ferry. I would highly suggest having a reservation as far
ahead as possible. Summer is a busy time. Enjoy, although I live in NB,
my favorite is Newfoundland.

RE: Bay of Fundy

There is another way to visit the Bay of Fundy - St. Martins, NB.
There is a beautiful campground right on the Bay called Century
Farm. It can handle large rigs with no problem....also wifi, laundry
etc. It's close to the entrance for the Fundy Trail which you have
to pay a day fee, but it's well worth it. Also, there are the "caves" which are wonderful - but watch the tides, these can be
seen from the campground as well as lots of good places to eat ...
fish, what else??
You're aware that the Bay of Fundy is in the running to be selected
as the eigth Wonder of the World?? It's the only location left in
Canada on the list.
Welcome and enjoy our area.
