RE: Photos of my new Jayflight Travel Trailer...

Enjoyed seeing your changes. It gives me the courage to go for it. Our new White Hawk could use some color. Couldn't decide which direction to go. Seeing what you did, goes to show that the color pallet can be wide open. DH likes it the way it is but I would like the brown tones to fade into the background. I plan to add some colorful art work and go from there. Thanks

RE: Jayco WhiteHawk 29SQB

We bought our White Hawk 27DSRL in Feb./2012. Love it, haven't been out as much as I would like. It's just perfect for DH and I. During school break this summer I supose we'll have G-Kids want to go. Sofa will make a bed big enough for 2. I don't care much for the sofa air bed, plan on purchasing memory foam for the sofa bed.

RE: Bird problemss on the deck

We had a bird that continued to make her nest on our front porch. Dh heard about the dvd tape deal, but he decided to cut long strips from a black garbage bag. He taped the strips up high where they would move as the wind hit them. The strips look like snakes to them, so that solved our bird problem. The funniest place she made her nest was inside a light fixture. I had replaced a light bulb but couldn't seem to get the cover back on correctly, layed it aside and forgot to tell DH. A few days later noticed we had a bird nest inside the fixture on top of the light bulb.

RE: underbelly

The way I understand it, enclosed underbelly is considered an option when ordering. I asked dealer why some had it and others didn't, he said that's the way he ordered them from factory. We've had the enclosure on all 3 of our TT's. Never had a problem with rodents.

RE: Info about a Dutchmen

Thanks, looks like a good TT for his needs. He spends the winters in Fl. and is also a ham radio operator where he attends some fests. Money is no problem but this seems to be the one he fell in love with. He's located one in Ind.,trying to convince him he needs to buy local if possible, warranty work, ect. He's only interested in the fiberglass.

Info about a Dutchmen

My Dh's Brother has been renting a condo in Fl. for several years during Jan-Feb. He has a friend from Ohio that travels down with his rv and my B-Law has gotten interested in one. He looked at some while in Fl. and thinks he likes the Dutchmen 196RD. He's divorced so the size is plenty roomy enough. He said the one he saw in Fl. was a fiberglass, but I have looked online and the one's I've seen are aluminum. Does this model possibly come with either fiberglass or aluminum siding? He was an accountant before he retired but he's as the old saying goes green as a gourd when I hear him talk about rv's. Would like some info. on this brand and model. Thanks

RE: Jayco White Hawk appliance question

The manual stated to unplug, and open door when not in use. Poor design I'd say. It's wedged in it's own compartment and can't access the plugin. DH went back out, ran his hand down backside and felt something that might be a knob, turned it and motor quit running. I wanted to try pulling it out, somehow to get it unplugged. DH says it seems to be bolted to the floor. Oh well, only choice, check to see if it has it's own circuit breaker. Thanks

Jayco White Hawk appliance question

Our new TT has the small beverage frig. that's accesible from storage door outside. We've only been on camping trip once and discovered that it cools anytime TT is plugged into elec. outlet. Never used it, didn't pay much attention to motor running, with other campground noises. Last evening had G-Kids over for the night camped out at home. I was sleeping in master, kept hearing the motor from the frig. I decided this thing doesn't need to be turned on. Went to turn off and can't find the on, off switch. Looked inside, outside, under, on sides nothing. If you have a new White Hawk, with this set up please help. DS came over to get G-Kids, looked and he can't seem to find it. The info book mentions one but doesn't show a location on diagram of frig. I know I could call dealership next week but thought some of you could answer my question. Thanks

RE: Getting out the door

I get everything packed and ready in a very short time. DH is the slow poke. This happens just about every time. He decides at the last minute to do a quick wash job on the truck. His vehicle has to be showroom ready. I do a check. make a list of things I have robbed for the house. Things like toilet paper, paper towels, ect. Food and clothing is mainly what I have to pack. Fully stocked with things that can be left in, makes the process much faster.

RE: New Trailer Smell ?????

Our new TT we picked up 1st of Feb. had that strong new smell. Opened all windows for cross ventilation, as well as had a fan blowing. The biggest drawback was, just the right time of year for everything to be coated in yellow pollen. Had a time getting rid of the pollen.

RE: TT won't let go of TV

DH has the same problem with our new TT. He makes sure it's jacked up high enough and gets on truck and bounces it up and down until it releases. Good Luck.

RE: Scams over the phone

Our landline phone announces the name of who's calling, without picking it up. Don't have to deal with unwanted calls. The dozens of rings, sometime gets annoying.

RE: Dick Clark has passed. Age 82

Big part of my teenage years. Watched American Bandstand every Sat. morning during the 60's. He will be missed, even though his health had been failing since the stroke.

RE: Wasp

We have a small flying insect that looks like some type of wasp, but much smaller about half the size of a normal wasp. It played havoc with our awning on our previous TT last year. We kept having these awful stains appear that nothing would even begin to touch. While cleaning DH kept seeing this awful material washing out the ends of the awning. Took a closer look, these little insects had packed the awning track full of material that looked like chewing tobacco. Somehow when it rained it caused that mess to release stain and ruined our awning. He noticed one going inside the end of awning one day and that's how we knew he was the problem. Like to know what this little pest is. Can't seem to identify it.

RE: If you could have one car back

My 1st car a 67 Mustang. The year I graduated high school. DH tried to locate it years later, but had no luck.

RE: Has anyone picked up their new Jayco Whitehawk

We picked up our White Hawk 27DSRL, from dealer Feb. 9th. Love ours. This is our 3rd Jayco we have owned. Always had good service with Jayco as well as our dealer. Dh is working on stabilization, before we take it out next time. More rocking movement than we have ever experienced in the 2 previous units. That is while we are set up at camp sight. No problem in the towing. We spent a week in Pigeon Forge Tn. Had a nice big site with beautiful creek flowing behind us. We stayed at Up the Creek campground.

RE: Random questions - Cash or finance travel trailer

When we were young, with 2 small sons we bought a used pop-up. We enjoyed that little camper. Our adult sons still talk about those days. When we sold it, our intentions were to purchase a bigger TT, but DH didn't want to have a payment. I know we missed out on some special times with our family. We have paid cash for our TT's but they don't seem as much fun now that we are older and can afford to pay cash. If you are a young family, and can make the payments, go for it. Those chances for memories will be gone faster than you think. Buy what you can afford, and just enjoy. Children need that family time, and doing things together.
