RE: How many miles a day ?

I left Princeton In and drove to lake Tawakoni TX witch is close to Emory Tx. That was a bad move that I will never do again. It took me 3 days to get back to power. I thank 400 miles if the weather is good is safe.

RE: Tire Inflation

I took off the Goodyear's and put on Firestone Trans Force LT in 06 and put max air in them. I am still ruining the same tires and they look new they have over 60.000 miles and the side walls are not cracked. I will change them out before going south this winter.

RE: goose neck vs 5th wheel hitch

The fifth hitch is a lot easier to hook up.Why most farmers use the goose neck it lets them use their bed to haul other things. I have the B&W that I can remove it from the bed and just leave the rails in the bed it is also adjustable.

RE: Rear Kitchen Bounce

It's interesting that some folks with RKs have all sorts of bounce trouble yet others with the same model have no trouble (without shocks)
We have a 292RKS with 12,000 miles towed and we have had no bounce related problems with items in the rear of the trailer.
I replaced the stock 15" tires/wheels with 16" LT tires at the dealer before pickup. Other than that, no other suspension related mods.
Perhaps all the different results folks see is due to the pin weight on the TV and the levelness of the TV/trailer?
It has a lot to do with the length and how they are set up. I would never have a rear kitchen.

RE: Tires on 5th wheel

I have "G" rated tires on my 5th wheel. On the sidewall of the tires there is a statement that the tires can be regooved. Has anyone ever done that to get more miles out of the tires? If so, where would you take the tires to have it done. I'm not a tire expert. Just asking a question of those that might be.
If it's the Goodyear G614's, it's really not necessary. Won't do the tires on a 5er much good to re-groove them.."IF" they were that far worn, they need to be replaced anyway...this per Goodyear when tire is used on TT or 5er...When they get to the 5 yr of age condition, they need to be replaced anyway, even if they appear to have very little wear...I wouldn't waste your time or money on re-grooving them..
2 X that It is OK on farm tires that only get very little road use. I know that they do it on some road tires. I would never have it done on my fifth wheel are my cars or trucks.

RE: Slide Out Sequence

Just purchased a new Keystone Avalanche and have a question about slide outs (mine has three). Can the sequence of the opening be changed? I cannot access the kitchen area of mine without the slide opposite it being open and that slide is the last to open. If we are on the road and want to stop and fix a sandwich and get a coke for lunch, then we have to open all 3 slides. I do not know what the plumbing is like on these things but I am thinking that the pump output probably goes to some type of sequencing valve and is then directed to the appropriate slide. If so, maybe the hose attachment points on the sequencing valve could changed so that the slide opposite my kitchen would be the first to open. Any inputs would be appreciated.
John Henley, 2012 Keystone Avalanche 290
Why not take it back and see if they can set it up like you want it?? So if they charge you for a second switch or a valve it will be what you want. GOOD LUCK

RE: TrailerMate hitch

I put a 5TH airborne on my trailer 2 years ago and wish I had done it when new.You can adjust the air so you can adjust the ride. It has a start line so then you can adjust it to your liking.

RE: Chaoyang Longmarch 14 ply tires???

My local firestone tire dealer installed a set of Choayang Longmarch 14 ply tires on my 5er. The loaded weight of my 5er is aprox 14,500lbs
Has anyone have experiance with these tire or what tires would you sugget to carry the weight of my 5er???
Why don't you look at the tire and see what they are rated for? All the tires I have look at will give you the weight the air pressure and what weight it will safely carry. The ply does not tell you what weight your tire is capable of carrying.

RE: 40 ft. 5th Wheel Turning Radius?

Turning radius has to do as much with the truck as the trailer. The sharper the turning radius on the truck the sharper it will be with the trailer.
The wheel location on a 5th wheel is no where close to that of a semi trailer.
That is the best answer. The shorter the truck turn the trailer will turn. My cab and 1/2 turned a lot shoter than my double cab. Both are full bed.

RE: Poo problems!

My wife and I just moved into an older 5th wheel. It is winterized with insulation and a hard-line PVC sewer pipe going directly into the ground.
With that being said, I believe we have a toilet paper clog in the black water tank ( I will ONLY be using single ply from now on). Water drains out super slow but I can still see a sea of toilet paper when I look down the toilet hole. It drained fine earlier this week and I dont think it frozen anywhere since the gray water tank drained fine and its right next to it.
Anyone have any ideas I can try? Fancy products to break down the toilet paper? I cannot access the tank from anywhere other than the toilet itself.
Thanks!
Run your water hose in and flush the out before it clog up. You might fill with water and let set before you try to flush it.

RE: Exhaust brake

I have the Jake on my 03 stick shift. I was very glad that I had it put on when new. The first time down I-8 in CA it saved my brakes on the truck and trailer.I would buy one again. I HAD THE Jake ON MY TRACTOR BUT IT WORKS DIFFERENT IT IS ON THE ENGINE.

RE: 5TH WHEEL SIZE CAMPING

Mine is 38ft and I have never had a place that I could not go. My trouble is getting in to the parking spot where they park them about 6 feet apart and the road is only 10ft wide. There is a lot of OLD state Parks that will not take trailers over 24ft. Also National parks. The best National park that I was in is Sam Huston at New Waverly TX. I do check the park out before going there!
