RE: Trailer has some "buckling", is this OK?

From where it starts it looks like the amber running light was the source of the leak. There's no excuse for preventive maintenance.
For want of 10 cents worth of caulk you get thousands of dollars in repairs. I'll bet the inside is as worse.

RE: living full time in the heat

Temp only 110 out, not to worry, it's a dry heat.
Don't laugh--dry air is much easier to cool since it doesn't have to wring the the water out.

RE: Squirrels in the FW

A rat trap with peanut butter is only a few bucks and worth a try. Make sure you do a good gap inspection on the belly and seal it with steel wool or aluminum over the holes

RE: Add on lights for toad, can't see them

I've got the 9.99 harbor freight set and they are as bright as my regular tail and brake lights. And 10 years old are they. Unlike others they have an amber lens on the front side. I suppose you could take off the amber lens and put a disc of aluminum foil behind it for extra light.
That guy you were following may have had a bad ground or was mis wired. The tow lights are wired directly to the tail/turn/brake lights harness or plugged into the tow plug if it has one and should work the same as the towing veh..
In my time I've seen some bad wiring jobs where they twisted the strands together and taped them up.

RE: Leaking Roof :(

Make sure you clean the surface with solvent before sticking the Ebond. If you put it down over dirt or mold it will eventually peel up. Same for Dicor.

RE: Size limit in campgrounds?

There seems to be alot of variance with posted length limits in campgrounds. You may be able to fit into a shorter posted site if your tail overhangs the pad and you can tuck the bed under the pin while parked. Length aside, the most neglected maintenance in campgrounds seems to be tree trimming. 5th wheels, due to their extra height, are least likely to get spots with overhead branches on the sites.
That said, don't back up without a spotter!!

RE: Motorhome electrical: what's your biggest problem

The Intellitec battery control center. First the board went then the isolator solenoid. Now it's not charging the coach batteries again...Oy.

RE: converter charging chassis battery when plugged in

It is correct that the converter does not charge the starting/chassis battery bank. This has been the case for quite some time, as my 96 Safari did not either.
Most people will put a battery tender on the chassis batteries, or use a small jumper wire across the boost solenoid. If you use the wire, be sure to remember to remove it before starting the engine otherwise the wire will go poof!
Ah yes...the DIY automatic disconnect feature.

RE: KFC Chicken Pot Pies

I love the KFCs also and had one in mind when I ordered a Chicken pot pie at Shoney's. It had a mushy crust and very few veggies in it. VERY poor value at $8.

RE: What is the best GPS to use with a RV

I'm not sure how effective it was but my very old Garmin 330 had a truck/bus/car route feature. I'm guessing the tracking would keep you on truck routes that had clearance minimums under bridges. I tried to get it when I purchased my new Garmin but they did away with that feature unless you buy a truck specific one with all the other truck bells and whistles I'd never use.

RE: Bathtub Overflowed

Is it possible that the shower taps were not turned off, only the control on the shower head was used to shut off the water causing a slow trickle that might go unnoticed?
Oh yeah...my wife wet her hair down in the tub in the morning, turned it off at the nozzle and set it in the bottom of the tub. Never shut off the valves. It trickled all day without any tell tale dripping noise since it was in contact with the tub. Were we lucky to have seen the tub filling up and not overflowing. Lesson learned.

electric step quit working

I've got a one step entrance to the motor home. It has worked flawlessly for 8 years. Now all of a sudden, turning the ignition on and off doesn't extend or retract the step automatically. I've got to throw the switch. The troubleshooting manual states it may be the in-line fuse in the yellow wire (which I can't locate) but the coach diagram shows several step fuses in the BCC under the hood which check all good.
Any suggestions on where to look for a fuse?

RE: Replacing TT's mattress with memory foam

I bought a 4 inch topper also and after 5 years of use it's still like new. An electric carving knife makes a nice clean cut with no shredding of the foam. it came with a zip on cover that we tuck under by the headboard since it didn't get cut off with the topper.

RE: Where to stay inTampa

Pgr, do you recall what the rates were for camping?
We stayed at LazyDays in Seffner last summer and liked it a lot. The pool is in the complex that houses the office, the laundry and the rally room. There is also two fenced dog runs and a pet sitting service that is a little pricey. The one day we needed to be away from our pet, we put him in day care at a nearby Petco for a lot less $$. Trash is picked up at your site several times during the day and they deliver a free newspaper each morning. You get quite a bit for the price which I thought was reasonable for such a clean place with such friendly staff.

Campground recommendations Biloxi to Pensacola

We'll be leaving Ohio next week or so heading down the natches trace weather permitting. We're looking to camp along the gulf coast for up to a month and enjoy the food and ethnicity in the area and also mardi gras parades. We'd need a spot for a 30 MH with water and electricity. Any recommendations as where to go, what they cost, is there a wait to get in? Last year we went to Ft. Pickens which was COLDCOLD and like a ghost town in Feb.

RE: Selling Motor Home

I sold through Craig's list in less than one week to an out of state buyer. If your coach is priced to sell, you write a good ad, with lots of pictures, Craig's list will work. If the coach is priced too high(it doesn't matter to a buyer what you still owe) than it doesn't matter where you advertise it, it will not sell. Very few buyers care about how much you love your coach or how you babied it. EDIT
I must be different because one of the first things I look at in a used coach is whether it was babied. If I see the slightest indication of dog trashed or kid trashed there's no need in looking any further.

RE: V10 Miles Per Gallon...what's yours?

We're in the process of purchasing a 2011 Winnebago 31C. What is a banks system?
Banks system is a $3000+ upgrade to your engine and exhaust you really don't need in a class C. And money you will never recoup from any increase in gas mileage they would claim you would get from installing it.

RE: smoking pork shoulders

My opinion is: if frozen meat was as good as fresh, all meat would be frozen since it never would go bad in the meat case.
