RE: Collar lights

Thats it Pops...thats the one!!!!!!:B
If you can give me an exact or close to description, in regards to how it's actually attached to the dog. I'll post a help me find a light in CPF (Candle Power Forum/Boards) and see what they come up with.
You can also register yourself at CPF if you like. But it's kind of a PITA to get started and being able to post a thread. But if you wanna know anything about illumination/ing devises/products, that place is it IMO!
Here's a link to CPF

It's pretty bright since it's emitter is at 720 lumens, but out the front lumens is somewhere around 550 plus of minus a few lumens.

RE: This is very strange.

Try learning all about the sugar content in a blade of grass and 'when' it is at its highest and when it is at its lowest thru out the year so you can decide whether or not to let your Cushings horse out on it! :R:BBefore you can do that you'd better know what grasses are in your field. My knowledge of grasses, the nutritional content, and changes in the nutritional content with the season, and how making hay impacts the nutritional content of each grass is very deficient.
Ok Mark, I was impressed before, Now I'm really impressed! ... :B

RE: Meet Duncan

Hi everyone,
I have been lurking for quite sometime and thought I would introduce myself and my new little friend. My name is Vicki and my DH and I have been talking about getting another dog some day, but we have had our first extended (3-4 months) motorhome trip planned and thought we should wait until this trip was over before we brought in a new family member. Our last dog died 12 years ago, he was a big beautiful Shepherd/Rotti mix. This time we agreed we wanted a non-shedder, female, and something a couple years old. Well three days before we left for our trip this little boy came into our lives. So we have a male, who sheds a little, and is still a puppy. He was at the local pound and was pulled from the euthanasia list for a second chance adoption. A lady I know took him so he wouldn't be put down, but she just couldn't keep him. So, meet Duncan. One paper I have says he is 8 months, another says he was born 12/2010. He has been on the road with us for one week now and is doing great. He isn't afraid of anything, isn't a barker, is house broken, leashed trained, and travels well (basically falls asleep). We were also able to crate train him already. I can't believe this little guy wasn't adopted early on, but I was told he was there for quite some time. The pound had him listed as a dachshund/chihuahua mix. I was kind of thinking more a dachshund/corgi mix.

It's because IMO he was wait'in for y'all! I'd say it was a close call, but he waited none the less!
Great job finding him, and thanks for sharing your story! Oh and pictures are always great with this bunch!
Pops
PS I wouldn't spend your hard earned cash to do a DNA test btw! Why? ... Because all it's gonna tell you is that he's a mix of Labrador, Pug and Husky! ... :B
PPS He sure is a cute fellow!

Thinking about it, Harlee n' Calvin won't eat veggies, but they love grass! When we were in CA, they'd go nuts eating the stuff!
Since we don't have grass where we are, Calvin will search for the stuff!

RE: Pet treats causing deaths

Okay I had to log on and comment; We have been giving Carrots for treats and for one of the dogs feedings, (they get three feedings a-day) for about month now. In fact I just went out and bought Ten pds of them this morning.
Anyways the good part is Our, 10-year-old) Cocker. just went to the vet yesterday and TADAAA she lost 4pds in the last month.
So carrots work and my doggies love them too.
OK!

RE: Do you really love your Dog? Good food vs cheap food.

I am amused by the low fat diets. We treat inflammatory and skin problems by ADDING fats, granted they are specific Omegas and fatty acids. Dogs and cats just don't have the problem with cholesterol, triglycerides and fats that people do. In 34 years of practice, I can count on one hand the number of dogs I've seen that have had these problems......I think it is not uncommon for people to anthropomorphize their health issues and concerns to their pets, i.e., "If this dog food makes me sick when I eat it, then it must be bad for Bowzer as well!" :W
Well hold on here, wait just a dang gun minute! What you're saying is, I'm NOT suppose to test Harlee and Calvin's food before feeding it to them?

RE: Pet treats causing deaths

When I saw this thing about China, I stopped buying the chicken strips back when Baby was around.
Prsently they get two stuffs (Jumbone and Hill's Hypo-Allergenic Biscuits) that's made by our neighbors in Canada, Ehy!
Pops
PS All I'm wait'in on is to see if this ALL PROTEIN diet works on Harlee!
PPS I wish I could get Harlee n' Calvin to eat vegetable treats! Cause they share one (x2) pack of medium size Jumbone at $3.50 once a day. And the bag of Hill's Hypo-Allergenic treats is $7.50 a bag!
After which you gotta figure in that they eat (x1) large tray of boneless/skinless chicken breast per week (usually the $15.00 - $16.00 dollar size. Which by the way is brough in from China. But I do boild the heck out of'um before I freeze it).
And now they're on different types of Royal Canin caned Dog Food!
Then to top it off, the two ask if I could make them "Eggs Benedict with a side of dollar size pancakes with beef or chicken gravy" on Sundays for a little variety!
I'm beginning to think that some'tuns definately work here!
Those jumbones are HUGE....... that's a lot of extra calories per day, and a LOT of chicken per week, on top of kibble.
Harlee could lose a few punds, but both their weights a pretty much stable with their present intake. How do I know about their weight? Well we've been to the vet's quite a lot since July! ... LOL
Calvin however, works it off since we walk a good 5 plus miles a night since arriving to this new property. Been good for me as well!
Since Harlee had her pancreas problem, Jumbone was the only treat I could find with a low fat content (crude fat 1%). It's unreal the fat content in these treats! And again, both dogs will NOT eat veggies! No Way No How! Wish they did though, would save me a ton of cash!

RE: Royal Canin

Royal Canin recalled products on April 20, 2007 due to the presence of a melamine derivative in the rice protein concentrate in some of its dry pet food products. Since then, they have been very diligent in the testing of every batch of food made, and there has been no more incidents.
In gerneral, this incident was a wakeup call for the entire dog food industry.
Thanks Slate!
What is the first ingredient on the list?
We tried several brands on our rescue Lab and have settled on Simply Nourish. He seems to like it and actually eats it without throwing up.
Aqua Suficient para el procesamiento ....:? .... :h
Sorry, reading the wrong side of the can! .... :S
Taking Harlee off the Hill's r/d and trying her on;
Calorie Control: Water sufficient for processing, pork by-products, chicken liver, etc., etc....
We finally got Calvin eating again with the Royal Canin, and so far "knocking on wood" not throwing up with;
Gastro Intestinal Low Fat: Water sufficient for processing, pork by-products, etc., etc.....
He does take Pepsid and benadryl twice a day now though!
My Vet carry's it too, I also wondered about it. They have a prescription formula for dogs with crystal like my have.
Harlee's real particular regarding her food (actually her Poop is particular on what she eats as well). Although the vet suggested that I consider putting Harlee on Royal Canin as well, cept different formula then Calvin. I really didn't want to switch her, but she started to go for Calvin's bowl during feeding time (which is something the both don't do unless the other one is done eating. You know lick whatever that's not left over ...LOL). So I bought a case a few days ago, and since I have a container left of the r/d. I'm mixing the Royal Canin with the r/d, and she loves the stuff. Poops been good too!

Royal Canin

I didn't want to Jack a thread so I'll start this one to ask what you guys think of this Royal Canin Food since I see they were part of the 2007 recall thing for tainted food?
Their new vet suugested, an I started them both on the stuff. Harlee's on the Calorie Control and Calvin's on the Gastro Intestinal Low Fat canned food.
Thanks,
Pops
