RE: electric jack

Someone decided to delete my question to "MIDNIGHTSADIE" who said that 'barker is top of the line , don,t have any info on the other brands.' All I did was ask to provide the supporting information to back up his claim. Just looking to get supporting information on "MIDNIGHTSADIE" claim. :? I have no clue if Barker is the best of the best. What I do know is this. From all my reading, the Barker almost always got good to great reviews. Not so much the other brands. Also, I do know that Barker's are made here in the USA. I decided for once to play a little more for a USA made product rather than a Chinese made product. Also, from what I could tell, almost all other tongue jacks are made in China. The Atwood jacks are all made in China, except for the very latest addition to their line up. Their latest addition is made here. Thank you, at least someone gives some good information on the Barker. I have had an Atwood 3500 for quite some time (4 or 5 Years) and it has worked every time without any type of failure. Where it is manufactured is irrelevant even if it was made in China, just look at the auto maker. My opinion.

RE: Question about jacking up trailer

First off, congratulations on your daughters accomplishments, you as parents should be very proud. I recommend placing the scissor jack under the area of the axle where the leaf springs are mounted.

RE: Needles to Kingman

The route on I40 is actualy the faster and also shorter by 1 mile. The climb out of Laughlin is 6%-7% grade. X2 Unless you want to eat cheap and donate money to the Casino's,:B then Laughlin may be your choosing.

Thanks everyone for your recommendations and where to purchase, I will go with the Nylon as it is what was installed originally. :)

Water Heater Teflon Drain Plug

We have an Atwood water Heater (Gas Only) and the Teflon Drain Plug seemed to have started leaking tried to tighten and broke plug. I have removed the broken piece now all I need is a replacement which I believe to be 3/4". Are there any alternative for replacement. Recommendations would be most helpful. And No I was not being a Gorilla when I tried to tighten it. :B

RE: Packing bearings on Travel Trailer

Checked my records and the last time I repacked the bearings was in 2008 but I have put less then 800 miles on the trailer since. I don't have a problem doing the job myself as I have done it previously but not sure if it is necessary. The trailer has been stored in the garage when not being used.

Packing bearings on Travel Trailer

I have a tandem axle trailer and need to get a ballpark figure on what it would cost to have the wheel bearings cleaned and re-packed. I see estimates showing per axle cost which I assume is two wheels, but like they say don't assume anything. Any and all input appreciated.

RE: Granted I was stupid but..

I recently received a notice of renewal from Good Sam and when I read the notice carefully it was not for their road service renewal but it was to join the Good Sam Club. You have to read their (junk mail) very carefully.

RE: Atwood 80530 electric jack protective cover ?

My wife sewed one using canvas (Color to match TT) and sewed in a draw string at the bottom, been in place for 4 or 5 years now and holding up better then anything I could have found at the RV store and the canvas shows no sign of wear other than a bit faded from the Sun, Cost wise this has worked great.

RE: route 66

Nice scenic road with very little traffic should be no issues with your rig. Hackberry has a little country store with quite a bit of history about the area. If you have the time stop in at Hualapai River Runners in Peach Springs at the Hualapai Lodge where you can take a one day river adventure down the Colorado. From there you will see the Grand Canyon Caverns which you can tour if you have the time and interest. Once in Seligman I recommend Westside Lilo's Cafe for a quick bite to eat. Enjoy your trip.
