RE: Question about tagging a MH out-of-state

We are SD residents and just purchased an RV while in NC. We titled the vehicle in SD by using our mail service, Alternative Resources in Sioux Falls, to do the onsite leg work at DMV. As a result, we were required to pay 3% SD tax. If you purchase the vehicle in NC with a NC title, you will be required to pay NC tax. Subsequently, if you re-title in SD, you will be required to show proof of having paid a 3% tax. If you have paid at least 3% tax SD waives any additional tax at time of title. If you paid less than 3%, you are required to pay the difference to SD. When we first moved to SD and titled our NC vehicles in SD, the taxes were waived because we had paid 3% in NC.

RE: Laramie, WY campground suggestions

Vedauwoo National Recreation Area, 14 miles east of Laramie, just off I80. We hosted there last summer. Pull-thru sites, hydrants for water and vault toilets. $10/night w/o senior pass.

RE: phaeton sleeping options

We have an '02 Phaeton and the sleeper is a "Jack Knife". I haven't slept on it but have opened it and tried it out. Seems hundreds of times better than the old sleeper sofas.

RE: Refrigerator in Class A

We have been full timing for 5 years and never had a problem. Currently we are in NC with lows in the mid 20's and highs in 40's. I would be interested in other comments from people that have had a problem.

Phaeton with 330 CAT Maintenance

I am researching a 2002 Phaeton with the 3126 330 Cat engine. My question is with the rear radiator how difficult is it to perform maintenance such as oil and filter, fuel filters, water separator and general inspection and cleaning? I know there is a cover in bedroom but what can be done from outside? Any other comments on this unit are appreciated. I am not able to actually able to look at the unit until next month.

Help in South Dakota

Ignore this post, wrong information initially, now I discovered no special license is required in SD as long as vehicle is classified as "Recreational Vehicle". I am in Wyoming and have South Dakota drivers license. I am in the process of purchasing a new rig in North Carolina. My problem is I need to upgrade my license to a Class B with air brakes. If anyone out there in South Dakota would be willing to allow me to rent a vehicle with a GVW over 26000 lbs and with air brakes please send me a Private Message. I am willing to pay for time and other costs associated with taking the driving test. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

2002 Phaeton Curb Weight

Can anyone provide curb or dry weight for a 2002 Phaeton 40 footer? I am looking to buy but owner cannot provide weight required for SD licensing. Any other input on experience with 330 CAT especially fuel mileage. I know fuel mileage subjective but would like some baseline info.
