RE: Best broadcast quality video camera?

You may want to re-think using an ENG, or typical broadcast quality news/sports type field camera outfit. A popular camera is the Sony PDW-F800 XDCAM. That doesn't include the support equipment such as extra batteries, mics., tripod, portable lights, cases, etc. Plus, you need to figure out how you intend to get the raw footage into your editor? Not to mention if it will get enough use to even warrant the investment in the first place.
You can find 3-chip cameras by Sony, Panasonic, and JVC using some form of memory cards which offer outstanding quality for under $10K. It all depends on what you're shooting, and what the finished video will be used for? If your not recording long form video, then a DSLR would be an excellent alternative, which is increasingly being used more frequently by independent filmmakers.
Unfortunately, you just missed the annual NAB convention in Las Vegas this past week, where you could have seen and tried out just about every HD broadcast and prosumer camera and equipment available. I believe NAB charges $150. for exhibits only pass, but you can get a free vip registration code from many of the major exhibitors in advance with no problem.

RE: Jiffy Lube horror stories

I also stopped using Jiffy Lube a decade ago, and change all my vehicle's oil myself. Also use only synthetic oil, which costs no more than their regular oil change service. Plus, it takes far less time to change the oil yourself, if you consider the drive and wait times to go to and have Jiffy Lube do the change.

You can also try re-sizing the photo in IMGUR.com. If you're not sure how, see this YouTube video.

RE: Camera support after purchase

I've only owned Canon DSLRs and have never had any issues requiring service or support. Also, have only bought Canon broadcast lenses on my Sony video cameras, and no issues either. Wish I could say the same about the Sonys.

RE: Yahoo Task Bar?

I don't install any tool bars, but you may want to first try right-clicking on it, and uncheck "Lock taskbar".

RE: Postings that are wider than my screen to view.

Not likely. They tend to be caused by members posting photos whose width far exceeds the Forum's recommended 640pix.

Make sure you have the most updated Flash Player. Worked fine with me in Firefox w/AdBlock Plus. However, in Chrome, the live stream would freeze initially. In order to start it backup, you may want to try clicking on the "Live Stream" button on the upper right hand corner. This apparently re-initiates the connection to the server. Worked fine in Chrome for me after clicking the button.

RE: Getting spammed with Norton installed.

The spam is appearing on my computer and not hers. The spam appears in the body of whatever is up. Hers has a blank space where my spam appears.
When you say body, does this mean in your email, a web browser, or on your desktop itself?

RE: Cell phone spam from "apple.com"... not!

I am also on the "do not call" registry but still get calls.
Unfortunately, the Do-Not-Call registry is useless against scammers or those who simply ignore it. IMO, some type of call management system is many times more effective, though does take work to setup and maintain.

RE: Cell phone spam from "apple.com"... not!

If you have a smartphone, there are Free apps which will allow you to block callers. You can also limit calls to your contacts, and send all other callers automatically to voicemail without ringing your phone.

You may want to try the FREE PDF-XChange Viewer. It's both faster and gives you edit options that the free Adobe Reader doesn't even offer.
