I lived in San Diego for a year when I first got out of high school. I enjoyed it a lot, But was to young to really appreciate it. I lived at 800 Deal Court Mission Boulevard. Weather was awesome.

Lived in several different parts of Canada over the years and liked them all but grew up on the west coast, like the mountains, both our kids are established locally and the weather is good (for Canada).

We are here because it is home, and on the place my great grand parent homesteaded over 125 years ago. We've both traveled nearly all of the country and DH a lot of the world...and yet this place offers the most peace and quiet, great people, very little crime, no traffic unless you count the wildlife crossing the road...it's the best!

My wife was 16 and I was 20 when we married. We had a choice. Live in my parents basement in snow country, and listen to the small town gossip about us, or move to Florida to start out in a house my parents also owned.

We chose Florida, to "get away." I really think that the move helped keep us together, at first, because we had no one to run to. We only had each other. We worked out any problems ourselves, without interference from others.

After 41 years, the marriage that "everyone" thought would only last 6 months is still going strong.

We live here because my family has been here since 1823,the chose a wonderful place.
The climate is great with a definite four seasons. We are only occasionally subject to extreme weather.
The scenery is beautiful the air and water clean.
The populace is peaceful polite and considerate and most importantly they mind their own business.
Within a three hour drive I can experience mountains, beach, and big city attractions.

I do fear for the job prospect of my children and am afraid they may have to move away if they want a prosperous future.

Why Michigan? For starters: family. Almost everyone we love lives here.
I like the 4 seasons and beauty of our state
I like the goodhearted people
I appreciate the scarcity of Natural Disasters and lethal creatures; and abundance of fresh water.

Our entire family is within a 45 minute drive. I know for some that would be a bad thing, but for us it's good.

DH's job (which is a very good one and one he's mostly happy with) is here.

We contemplate retiring somewhere else, but have yet to find any place that seems better in terms of overall weather, safety/low crime rate, cost of living, available recreation activities and medical care, etc.

Was in Orlando Fl in the Air force in the 60s nice town then, now to many people. Was in Fl during the missile crisis when the pulled all the bombers out of Fl and brought in fighters. Kind of scares me now.
