Sorry did not respond right away. Been a crazy week. My parents live on the north side of Kansas City, close to the airport. We are still looking for a campground. We would probably be ok without water for a few days. Thanks for any feedback. Not sure we want to go out to Blue Springs. It is a little far out from where we are visiting. We really prefer full hookups so I can stay on top of the laundry.

We frequent Liberty Missouri often and drive in from Texas. Over the past years we have found that a lot of the parks do close in winter. For Thanksgiving we ususally try to stay here: Clicky as this is a great park, rather small sites and it also is in the flight path of the airport. Beautiful park and only 5 minutes from MCI.

If your wanting full hookups then Basswood will be your best bet as previous poster provided link to. Hope weather stays on the warm side for ya. Good luck, John

I called yesterday to confirm-Worlds of Fun is closing 11.24.13 so camping there Thanksgiving is out. Looks like we have narrowed it down to two choices-either Campus RV Park in Independence or Basswood Resort-both are about 25-30 minutes from the in-laws. We stayed at Basswood 5 years ago and they had a really steep driveway that plenty of Rv's had bottomed out on when entering or exiting the place. They said it has been fixed. Campus looks like a drive through town to get to but about $5.00 day less expensive.

Anybody stay at either place with a personal recommendation? Hope it stays warm, too! Or at least above freezing for travel.

We stayed 1 time at Campus. Mother in law lived in the Northeast Area so it was just down 24/Winner Road. Campus was in town, and we thought it was inconvienent. Took longer to get thru Independence stop lights and traffic than traveling the good hiways out of Basswood back to the city. Smithville lake is a little further out. We have stayed there in the Summer, its really nice, but add another 20 minutes....

I noticed Campus was a bit off of the beaten path and the drive through town would not be fun with traffic lights! Leaning towards Basswood as I remember it was all country roads in/out rather than in-town driving. I displayed on Google Earth and Campus seems to be right in town.
