We were looking to buy a TT around $20,000 at most. Since we are now considering 5th wheels, I have seen that the prices are higher.

Would it be alright to buy used? Or is new better due to warranty, newer technology, lack of mold and mildew, etc?

This is a personal decision based on your comfort level, trust in getting what you think you are, your finding the layout you like, your budget and many more factors that only you will know.

You have to be comfortable with the dealer you choose, he/she can be as untrustworthy as the private seller.

You will know what is right for you. Do your homework.

Bought one used for our first 40 yrs ago. It did a good job. All the rest have been new.

Our Montana is the first used one we've bought. No regrets. We did our homework, knew what we were getting, and we were comfortable with the price. That said, we limited our choices to something less than 5 years old. The technology changes so fast now, and I didn't feel comfortable buying something older than that. On the upside, most new RV's have little issues that need to be addressed. This is due to the fact that, in most cases, the end user is the quality control. If you're handy, lots of times it's easier to fix it yourself than to haul the rig back to the dealer. If you buy something slightly used, most of those little headaches are gone already. The best advice if you're buying used is educate yourself. Shop around. Know the market and what you're looking for. There are a lot of nice used ones out there. One other advantage to buying used is someone else took the depreciation hit. Happy hunting!

Bought a new 2012 model in April 2013.
Discounted from $49998.00 > $31669.00 (no haggling.)

Happy with the price and the fiver and the manufacturer (Heartland RVs)
We have always bought new.

Well we bought used both times.
We were getting back into camping and wanted a small investment in case we didn't like it as well as before.
We found a grand old 1986 King of the Road, with a very soft floor in the last 4' to 6' and bad tires, picked up for next to nothing. I fixed the floor and the other small issues, oh New tires before the tow home (150 miles). We enjoyed that sweet rig for three years before getting the bug for something a little bigger.
Current rig is the Copper Canyon, sweet 33' unit, almost zero issues, this should be our retirement rig.

This is the Great old King of the Road.

This is our current rig, tows great lots of room.

Bought used, through CW, had dealt with Local sales person, this one showed up in Burlington, WA., Placed a deposit, and drove the 250 miles, to do PDI and sign papers. Only found a couple small items on the PDI, have been very happy with the unit.
