Beginning stages of a four or five month 2014 Maine to Alaska trip. Probably leaving Maine around May 15th or so and taking a month or more / less to get to Alaska. This will be my fourth trip and my DW's fifth trip, although this will be our first trip driving all the way to AK. Soooo looking forward to Alaska. Maybe we will see you in our travels. Happy camping.

I to am planning a trip to Alaska in July & August of 2014. Don't have all my plans in place as of now, however will check in here as things get closer. $$$$$ is always an issue so I to plan on boondocking as much as possible. As time gets closer the travel dates maybe more flexible so I my not be locked into July & August.

Be great to have you. My plan is to leave home, Mount Airy, NC, in late July or early Aug. I want to drive back the Cassiar Hwy in Sept. cause in Hyder, AK the bears are supposed to be out then. Do not want to go to early cause the WX and roads up there is still bad. Anyway that is our plan for now. I have been following the Alaska 2013 posting.

Health & finances being well, we are kicking the idea around a bit here. It would be trip #3 for us. Something about the place draws you back.

No real changes to our Alaska travel formula except start a little later & stay a little longer.

Hi - it will be our 2nd trip. Our first trip was in 2004 and we took a paid 'rv caravan'. it was our best vacation ever. but now the cost of a paid tour is just too much for us. hope to meet and greet you next year.

We made the trip one way in 09 landing in anchorage 7/15 and getting back to south Texas in mid October staying just ahead of the cold weather. Came down the Cassius Hwy and took the ferry across to Port hardy on Vancouver island. Spent a week above the Artic circle with no Darkness. We are going to go back next year. Best recommendation is to take 2x time you are planning.
