We made it to Jacksonville!!! Got here at 5pm (eastern time). Flamingo Lake RV Resort, space #7 will be home for a while. And this "resort" knows how to make paved level sites. [emoticon]

The roads through FL, AL and MS are lots better than CA or LA. I-10 looks like Paul Bunyon took a weed whacker and cleared a 500 foot wide path and that's where the road went. [emoticon]

I figured some of the blog thing on blogger.com, so when Laura and I have time, we're going to go back and write up more about our journey and post it there, and I'll you all know when we do the first post so you can read about it if you like. [emoticon]

Got lots of exploring to do and scouting things out, like where to get a good hair cut. [emoticon]

You are going to enjoy the area once you get use to the heat and humidity and there is a lot do in the area. We have had a lot of good times there and I worked there for a bit also. Georgia and South Carolina are just up the road and Orlando too. Its a great area. Glad you two got there safely....Bob and Sue

First week of the new job has been pretty typical...not very productive...but next week should be better.

Went to Home Depot yesterday and picked up a battery bowered leaf blower to blow all the stuff off the roof from the trees around here. Was looking at the receipt this morning and discovered that the cashier didn't ring it up, so we got a $80 blower for free. I would try going back to the store to explain it, but they probably wouldn'b believe me.

I don't know what it is about Florida, but my sense of direction is all messed up down here. North is south, east is west, I'm all confused! [emoticon] Thank goodness for my GPS. [emoticon] And yes, I know that the sun comes up in the east and sets in the west. [emoticon]

I heard Seattle had a pretty good wind store the other day. My folks in Lynnwood were without power for almost 24 hours. Hope everyone is doing okay.

Well, --- skipped --- Got into the Elks club park here in Florence in time to go into town and have some seafood chowder at the Firehouse Pub. We had it last year and we think that it is the best chowder that we have ever had! Going back for lunch tomorrow. -- skipped --

Thanx Ron for the recommendation ... hubby said that was the best seafood chowder he has ever had ! AND my Mom could make good clam chowder .. and the Crab Cakes were the best ever I have had since Savannah Georgia ... we told the wait staff that we came because of the RV Forum recommendations .. that is one neat restaurant and didn't go back for dessert, should have as we didn't find any truly good desserts so far.

We eat a good sized lunch, then if we have any thing to eat later, it is always either cheese & fruit or dessert .. We are volunteering here at Jessie M. Honeyman Memorial State Park, and enjoying ourselves so far.

We talked about the Spring rally, so best make them and see what Life brings between now and then. I know we enjoyed the last one we attended which was on the Westside. Safe travels everyone.

How long do you stay at Honeyman? Not certain I would want to stay into the winter there with the coast storms..... Neat place when it isn't blowing!

Actually Honeyman is away from the Ocean .. the Dunes are between us and the Ocean .. never been here before and are parked next to Discovery Center and across from Playground. Now from here we go to volunteer at Cape Lookout .. definitely will be vulnerable to winter storms there .. then on to Ft. Yamhill near McMinnville for January/February .. should be an interesting few months going to places we have not been before, like Beverly Beach in March.

Will let you know when we get a storm ..

It should be an interesting winter! Aren't you fulltimers supposed to go south, not west, in the winter?!
