Bigburd,
I think that model 31MFW is available at the dealer I was refering to as the Tennessee Gulfstream dealer. I don't think it is the one that was on the lot the day we went there. I believe the one that the salesman was referring to was a used unit. I was thinking of going back over to that dealership and checking out the one he has on the lot now just to get a feel of the overall quality, before driving hours on end to see the actual floorplan they are considering. I just don't know how much you can really gain by looking at a different floorplan as far as major structural differences could be huge between models.

I have the Endura max 40. Love it,it is heavy,18,000 max but have been past that a few times.I like the low to the ground ramp height, the beefy double frame,6'6" bedroom height and 9' plus in the garage.Any trailer you find that fits what you like is the 1st concern. Most TH's are built solid.I did install ribs in place of the goodyears after one let go.Over 8,000 on the ribs so far and no problems. Pics in my sig of some of the mods.

Jetboater454,

What year is your Enduramax? Our KZ loaded is around 17,000 and we are still running the factory rubber. We only have about 6,000 miles on them but will be replacing them soon, more due to age than any signs of wear. Did your rig come with Goodyears standard, or were they offered as an option?

Expand your search on the forum too, just search for "Gulfstream" you'll find plenty to read about. Now forums will generally gather more negative comments then positive, but seems that Gulfstream has a bit of a reputation over the years I've been here of mixed service and warranty issues. The fact your dealers both steered you away should be telling you something. My local guy did that with another brand and sure enough a couple months later they dropped that brand. Dealer will try to go to bat for you with problems but if the manufacturer is fighting them then it's going to be a problem. I do not believe there has been an RV produced that doesn't have some issues. The challenge is buying one that wasn't built on a Friday by our friend Gilligan.

Have you used the search function on RV.net.

This thread jumps out at "me" when reading your questions about the Enduramax.
Enduramax frame issues

Also, do some searching on the various product lines by this OEM. Warranty responsiveness seems to have been an issue -at least in the past. Know this company has had finacial difficulties like many in the industry.

I see what you are saying if you just do a search on Gulfstream, quite the mixed bag. I did see the thread on the frame issue, but there didn't seem to be a conclusion to it. I even read the blog but didn't discover how it was resolved. I assumed that insurance covered the damage but can't say for sure. Seeing as toyhaulers are designed to be towed with a load and are very pin heavy until you load them, it makes me wonder if this couldn't happen to any of them if you went hard down a bumpy road with no load in them. I thought I read somewhere that Wide Open was an independent company and they were bought out by Gulfstream. Is this the case or not?

The old saying "you get what you pay for" really applies here. If they plan on full timing in it, what is an extra 20K for a custom build unit that will not fail?

I know plenty of people that fulltime (working) in Raptors, Fusions, Cyclones, ect. They get paid $150 a day perdiem which pays off a trailer pretty quick. So getting a new unit every 3-5 years is really not a big deal. That probably wont be the case for your Son and DIL. If it is, by all means, get a popular brand.

As far as dealers steering you, it is worth a mention, however results may differ. When looking for my Raptor, my salesman told me there are 2 kinds of KZ's. One that leaks and one thats gonna leak.
Evidently they got a bunch of flack from KZ about fixing warranty leaks.

Botom line, if the dealer has a good relationship with a brand they steer you twards, by all means, listen to them.

mrxlh,
I agree about the get what you pay for. Our son is contracted at a TVA site and would qualify for per diem if he owned a home elsewhere. TVA is very stringent on per diem requirements. We debated on the go custom or buy off the lot when we bought ours. We decided for us that after four or five years we'd be sick of any rig, custom high dollar quality or not. That thing about the KZ roofs when you were shopping Raptors kinda is what I was talking about not putting a whole lot of weight on what a dealer tells you if they think they can sway you to a deal that might net them a higher profit margin. After almost 4 years no leaks with the KZ. Now it's gonna leak for sure that I wrote that.

I have a 2009 Enduramax that has been great. We bought it new in 2010 as a leftover from the financial crash and got a great deal. It is really well built and top quality. I had an XLR before this that was fine but the Enduramax is definetly built better. I don't like making too many positive reviews because if someone has troubles I would feel bad about it. The warranty and manufacturer was fine, in fact there were no dealers selling these out here so they let us pick from some authorized repair facilities for some minor work.
