I saw this today in Quartzsite, AZ. The owner was not around so I could not talk to him. I guess the weight of the car was no issue with tag axle on the Bus. I still think it might take some weight of the front axle.

I see a big problem, there are no aux lights and the length of the car would conceal the RV lights. NOT a good situation, IMO.

Was it a lot wider, or still within the width of his mirrors?

It looks like it's a 2008 or newer so the length of the car is 8' 10" which makes it illegal on most roads. The older version of the ca was shorter and would fit within the max width limits of the roads.

In most states, 8'6" is the max legal width, but that doesn't include mirrors, door handles, etc... That's why you can drive a 102" widebody RV. So if the car is only 8'10", that's still within the width of the mirrors.
Legal? Nope... But is it going to be a mojor problem? I wouldn't expect it to be. If the RV's mirrors are going to fit, then the Smart will fit as well.

I just realized that it sounds like I'm advocating that this is a good idea, so let me be clear - I'm not, and I don't think it's a good idea.
I was just curious about how much wider than the RV it was.
