I was just reading another post applying this product. I see it's intended use is for floor coverings. Is it ok to use on a painted motorhome? Does anyone know the long term effect it might have on a motohome surface? Thanks

Type in RedMax Pro into the search engine at the top of the RV.net page, grab a cup of coffee, sit down for a long read. Yes, it works on painted surfaces, I've had it on my rig for 6 months and looks great.

I used it on the front of the MH last summer. It sure cleans off a lot easier.
I used bartenders helper to clean the surface, then applied 4 coats, letting each dry prior to applying the next coat.
I plan to do the rest of the MH when I get time.
So far, so good.

Go to the Red Max website or read the specs at any of the stores that sell this product. It is a floor finish for INTERIOR floors ONLY. If you want to use it for another purpose, that it was not designed for, then you become the test subject. I would guess that if it was suitable for EXTERIOR paint protection, the manufacturer would want to advertise it as such. Having painted many automobiles, airplanes, and RV's, I would never use it on anything but my floors.
They do make specific products to clear coat exterior painted surfaces, designed for each specific type of paint, but the cost is more than what some people would want to pay.
Red Max is cheap and worth every penny, for a floor finish.

It has no UV protection and tends to yellow, so putting several coats on a white RV may make it a shiny yellow-tinted RV. But having said that; it is shiny, durable, cheap, simple and easy to apply.

It works fine on Painted Fiberglas as well as White Gelcoat Finishes. I'm not going to say that it is Permanent or Won't Yellow with age but I can say for certain that My Rig looks better after applying RM3 than it did before. I also used it on a Badly Faded and Chalked Ski Boat. The results are remarkable to say the least. That Old Boat is as Shiny as New and the RM3 has made cleaning the Hull much easier.

I would suggest it is fine for unpainted roofs, gel coat, etc. but not for full body painted sides with clear coat. Clear coated full body paint does not require this product to look nice.

I know there are a lot of posts on RedMax, but I wonder what is needed to strip it, and how difficult is it to do, if you decide you don't want it on anymore? Do you use floor stripper? Would that mess up my gelcoat? I have heard that automotive wax is not OK to use on floors because it makes them too slippery. That being the case wouldn't automotive wax be better than RedMax for automotive applications? I have too much money, time, and TLC invested in my traveling house to do this. I don't have a problem in washing and waxing my house 2 - 3 times per year, just as I don't have a problem changing the oil or buying new tires. I don't think I want to try this. In 3 or 4 yearrs if any of the folks that did try it are still around, let me know how it worked out.

After a year in the Florida sun, can't see any yellowing or damage, only a showroom shine on an old RV.
