I have no problem with WM stepping up and taking back their property that was being taken over and abused. Stopping to sleep a few hours out of the way, and doing a some stocking up in the store is one thing, and I Thank them for that. Anything else is just plan abuse of the offer to park and shop.

Give an inch......take a mile
I'm entitled!
With any boom town housing is always an issue.......I grew up in small towns in Utah/WY that were oil boom/bust towns.
A typical 2500-5000 resident town overnight becomes a 10,000 resident town. At first everyone is tickled at the money rolling in...ca-ching, ca-ching goes the cash register. Then the trash becomes a problem, people get testy, the overcrowding becomes obvious....problems escalate.
Walmart moves them out....they shouldn't have allowed the extended stays.
BUT where do they go......problem has just been moved not solved.
The oil companies & the direct service related companies that have 'brought-in' the huge influx of workers should have to set up appropriate sites for housing.
The little towns can't handle this.......the industries SHOULD.

The key to staying in Walmart, overnight or in an emergency additional, is ASK.
Check in at Customer Service, and ask if you can stay and -where- to park. Some just park anywhere. Don't ask, and you may wake up to security banging on the door, to be evicted from the lot. If not parked where the Manager allows, Security knows you did not ask for permission to park. When there is a reason like high winds, ice storms, etc, we have never had them refuse, when we ask.

I haven't stayed at a Wal-mart...Yet,but may do so on our trip to Iowa this spring just to see what it's like..
We were in Cody,Wy several years ago on our way to Yellowstone and stayed at the RV park in the middle of town, which wasn't full at all.The second day we were there we went to Wally's to get some stuff and there were two Prevosts parked nose to tail with their awnings out, mats down and their chairs and bbqs all set up.Turns out they had been there for several days and hadn't even darkened the doors of the Wal-mart.The manager had put a note on their doors asking them to come see him and they hadn't responded. The next note was that he was giving the 24 hours to leave or he was going to have them towed out. They told him that they would have him sued if he did it and he did it anyway. They moved when the tow trucks showed up.

Tow the ingrates.
Get a restraining order (by VIN) to keep them from returning.
Post the policy in the parking lot.

I just hope this doesn't leave any of them with no alternative but to go home and draw unemployment. Sounds like a lot of these folks are mostly guilty of not being able to find another place to park. I do notice that a few folks here take great glee at others' misery or misfortune.

Jim, "If only the good die young, what does that say about senior citizens?" Why do you think that a property owner is required to provide you an entitlement of residing on his private property.. ..We work in the oil patch and I do NOT think Walmart owes me a place to park for an indefinite period of time. That is what is wrong with America today.....everyone is "entitled" to do whatever they think they can, to heck with those they are taking from.

It's not the fact that they're parking there, rather that they are abusing the privilege of doing so. Refer to the original post.
WM owes them nothing, especially under those circumstances.

I would agree with most of the posts. It's private property and most are abusing the 'privilege'. I have two Wal-Marts near me and there is NO RV parking. Period. Both cities passed the ordinance, not a Wal-Mart policy.
