Tried to rotate the batwing antenna this morning and it fell apart as I pulled down on the rotary mechanism. The crank handle, spring and plastic sleeve came off. Are there any diagrams how it all fits together? Any suggestions to fix it?

Someone may have detailed reinstalling procedures,
but this is a common problem, and easily fixed.
The spring and plastic pieces which fell off are
held onto the shaft, sticking down into the RV,
by an Allen screw.......the screw works loose,
and the thing falls apart. When reassembling
tighten the screw to the FLAT portion of the
shaft.

I have long been amazed that million dollar motorhomes
come with this nickel and dime rotating attachment !

put on the big ring,
then the spring
then the handle
tighten the Allen screw in the handle

either screw came loose due to wear on the a Lu hex shaft
or the plastic handle cracked from age and the screw can't be tighten with out making the break worse

new crank handle about $3

A set screw that fits into the handle and holds it along with other parts probably came loose and fell out while your were making adjustments. Find that small set screw and you're back in business. Go to Wineguard's site and view the technical documentation.

Mine has fallen out once and being small, was a little difficult to find. Once found, I was back in business. It now gets tightened every 6 months along with other scheduled maintenance checks.

The rotation is held in place by a nylon nut. Raising and lowering is the allen connection on the small handle.
To re-install the nylon nut you need to inspect it to make sure the threads are still intact. It takes a long "special" wrench to thread the nut on over the elevator shaft.

my handle cracked from too much allen tightness. now i repetedly epoxied back together . now for a near perminate fix i used a small hose clamp aroud the round base of handle works like a champ ... two years now. the epoxie job looks ugly but who looks up?

remember to lub with silicone spray the gear on roof... will lower the cranking effort.

Can anyone recommend which parts should be carried for this antenna? Any common parts that break often? Thanks.
