Did you really whack the truck or is the damaged minor. The decision should be easy from there.
Your truck is brand new, why are you willing to compromise the repair on a new truck. I agree with others if the truck were a beater I'd approach repairs differently. But a new truck needs to be repaired correctly.
Furthermore a truck that new is generally required to have full coverage, unless you paid cash of course.
If I recall is this not your 2nd mishap or are you referring to the same one?
There is no need to go shade tree if you are paying for full coverage. Kind of defeats the purpose. Something about this scenario does not make logical sense
Maybe it's just me?

Take a look at some of his work. We had a bodyshop for years and I couldn't believe the junk that came out of some shops, and the great work out of some little shop that I would not have expected it!

I agree 100%

As for the paint match, if he is buying form a body supply shop they have the equipment (computer mixing softwear) to match ypur panit. They will also sell him the corect reducer and hardener for the temp/humidity.

You dont need a million dollar spray booth to paint a car and if you have on, it won't keep a half a$$ painter from scerwing up you truck.

Ask aound and look at his work, see how clean the area is he panits in.

What, they can't paint match from the paint code on the truck? The paint supplier has the computer to spit out how much of what makes the color you need. The hard matching is if you have a custom paint job.

BTW ALL body shops "color match" (I think it's called that) this is were they add a little of the base color to the clear and blend in the area repaired to the surrounding areas.

If he does not know about it then don't use him.

New truck, good paint, You have no need for computer matching just a paint code.

Painting and body repair is a talent. Just because the guy in the paint booth works for a full blown collosion center big boy does not mean he is better than the shade tree guy. See if you can take a look at things they have done, if you can not see a quality difference I would go with shade tree.
