Havent picked the new trailer up yet, but it has an electric awning. Is there anything I need to know/do to it. I know there are mixed emotions on them, but it has one and I'll have a 2 year warranty on it, so I'll take my chances with it. It is an adjustable one, so that's good.

Just got mine too.New trailer came with it.Wife likes it,I would
rather had a manual one.But she can operate this one easier.

My new one came with electric as well and I was not thrilled about it. First season with it had no problems like they said just push the button and your done...

Mine came with an electric awning also, and I dont have any complaints with it. Just like any awning, it is subject to wind. I beleive mine is 20ft long, and has auto dump feature. With electric awing, electric slide, electric tounge jack and electric stabalizer jacks I can set up in the hot Texas summers with a cold beverage in my hand and never break a sweat!

Haven't had our long enough to know but I see pros and cons. Manuel is easier to adjust so water runs off. Electric easier to deploy and no more running outside in the middle of the night in the rain because you forgot to adjust it or put it away.

We rarely used our manual awning but use our electric a lot. Some come from the factory with an automatic retract when the wind gets to a certain point. For those that do not have that feature, there is an add-on kit to do it. When retracting, keep your hand out of the arms or you'll get pinched big time.

It was the only thing I was leery of when we bought our TT back in 2010. TBH I still would prefer a manual one only because you can adjust it so much more...and I'm still unsure about heavy rain..
Having said that...the positives:
1. Man it's SO nice to be able to push a switch to put it in and out.
2. It's also SO nice to not have to worry about hitting your head on the rails that come down on the manual ones.
Two other observations:
1. We've had it extended in pretty heavy rains and it hasn't been an issue at all...it's just hard to not worry a bit about it, even though it's never given any indication of being an issue.
2. Ours has a pitch to it, so you can leave it out in the rain and it shades a bit better...for the life of me I will never understand how any designer thought a 90 degree pitch awning would be a good idea.

An electric awning was a must have when we bought our new motorhome. With the manual awning on my previous rig I had to climb up a small ladder three times to get it set up, twice on the ends and once for a center support because it was so long. This awning opens and closes at the touch of a button and it automatically rolls up if the wind speed picks up.

Convenient - yes, but harder to clean compared to a manual awning.
