what is a good all around caulking for re-doing seams on a camper, would like to re-do a few seams that are just plain ugly, they dont leak but need some fixing, i was thinking 100% silicone either clear or white, how about removing the old stuff? what is the quickest way to do this? thanks

I have been researching sealants for the past several months. Talked with a few manufacturers all of which recommended a polyurethane over silicone. Heartland uses Sika products but the 505UV is expensive. I searched forever and found a sealant I am very pleased with so far...Trempro made by Tremco and available at all Fastenal stores for under $8.00 a tube. It's a polyurethane that comes in several colors and says its good for applications that require continuous immersion in water...a big plus here in the "northwet" It is also very easy to work with. It is a "textured" sealant meaning it does not finish glass smooth like a silicone. The Trempro 650 has a smooth texture but is about $11.00 a tube and not available in as many colors.
Best Wishes!

I used clear silicone back when I had the Fleetwood motor home as I could not find a matching brown the clear turned yellow in the first year.

This is the best for RV's. Silicone will not adhere to the existing caulk and must be completely removed to use Dicor.

The trouble with silicone is if you ever have to re-caulk it is difficult to completely remove and whenever re-caulking you must remove the old.

I use vulcem (sp) it stays flexible and sticks like mad. Available at home depot.
If it is fun the State of Minnesota will try to outlaw it.
