We are on our maiden voyage with our new class a and found a nice, big (well, not so nice) chip in the windshield. We are headed to charleston, sc tomorrow and wonder if any of you good people could steer us to a mobile windshield repair shop. I have googled it but have not been very happy with their answers. Maybe I am making it too exclusive when I put in "mobile rv windshield repair". Thanks in advance.
Newbies who can't wait to start filling in states.

First off, when you get a chance, check out my thread, "Costly mistake, I should have fixed it"
We had a nice chip. It was there for about 3 weeks. I procrastinated fixing or, getting it fixed because of various reasons. Well, the morning I was going to go and get a repair kit, I went out to the coach and yep, about a 13" crack had ran from that chip. As it turned out, I got it semi-repaired, stop drilled and semi-sealed so it won't travel. But, the point is, GET IT FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Now, I've read on several parts of the net, you can do it yourself. Quality repair kits are sold everywhere at name brand auto parts stores, Walmarts etc.
The reviews from folks like yourselves have been really great. The kits are in the neighborhood of $15.00-$20.00.
Just a suggestion here. But, if you don't feel you want to tackle it, you can look up repairs for windshields in the area you will be visiting.

I would think any auto glass repair shop will take good care of you...your insurance co. should hook you up with a shop.I would start there

Call Safelight. They are pretty much a national company. They have an 800 telephone number. Should be able to findon the internet. I have and have used them a couple of different locations

The big glass repair/replacement for autos in the area is Glass Pro, they can repair chips in glass but, are auto glass replacement company. Not sure if you are looking for a repair or a new windshield. I had a new windshield put in last year and the company did an outstanding job. It did take a few days to order the original OEM windshield. They do not use after market brands due to past issues with fit. I have the name of company in my motorhome which is in storage. But, you can call Camping World in Charleston, SC and they will have it. The glass company has an arrangement with Camping World to use their shipping dock instead of scaffolding. I told the glass company my only concern was that I did not want any Camping World techs working on my motorhome and they assured me that only the glass company tech would do the job. So far they did a great job with no leaks and it looks like it came from the factory. I hope this helps.

Thanks so much for all the replies. I called Coach-Net and they gave me the name of Champion Glass, I think. We called them this morning and the woman said a glass repair shop in Athens, Ga would call us within an hour. We were in Stone Mountain, Ga. and this would be somewhat on our way to Charleston. We waited until we needed to get on the road, and no phone call. So, thanks to your suggestions, I called Safelite. Boy, are we pleased. They had an appointment for us for a mobile repairman and had taken our insurance info and would contact our hometown insurance rep. for us. And she was very nice. I would definitely recommend them to everyone I know. So, tomorrow morning they will be here. I have 3 emails confirming this and the name and picture of the service repairman that will be coming.
