You read a lot.. NO battery likes CONTINUOUS charging, This is why they have come out with smart chargers (3 stage converters) which start with a rapid "Bulk" charge, then taper off to a much slower "Absorption" charge, then when the battery is full drop down to a "Float" which is not a charge at all but a balanced (ideally) setting where no current flows in the battery.

And there is no difference between six volt and 12 volt when it comes to this, NONE at all.

The major differences are as follows:
Most six volt batteries sold today are flooded wet cell golf car batteries (Size GC-2) On these if the battery is slightly "Boiled" you can add DISTILLED water to replace the lost water.. The downside of this is you need to clean them (externallY( more often.

They are also DEEP cycle and when not being charged can go down to around 50 percent state of charge before bad things happen fast. They have been know to recover from an OH @@@! discharge to say 10 or 20 percent SOC.

12 volt tend to be "Marine/Deep cycle" and may well be 'Maintenance Free" designs (AGM is this type) these when you boil out the water, there is no way to replace it. and most of them like to be 75% or better SOC.

Now that said, you can get 12 volt Deep cycle,, but they are costly.

all lead acid batteries have similar cycle life vs depth of discharge curves and can handle from around 200 to 1200 cycles down to 80% DoD before capacity drops to 80% of max in lab conditions.

If you find a good, objective, and useful definition for 'deep cycle' or whatnot that is backed by something that can be actually measured and pertinent, let me know.

It is also necessary, it seems, to note that I am talking about those batteries commonly available to RVers at retailer for use in their rigs. Not submarines, not forklifts, not space ships,
