I have seen a lot of adds for tuners for the Ford V10 from 5 Star Tuning, Brazels, etc. and looking at the charts it appears that there is a great deal of power to be gained, especially if these tuners are combined with headers. What I would like to know, from those of you who have actually had a tuner installed is, is it worth the money for them and headers relative to improvement in performance? Improved MPG is not that important. I'm more interested in grade climbing ability and overall performance. BTW I have a 31' Coachmen class A with 2 valve V10.

I have the 5 Star tuning installed, and I am quite happy with the added performance. I took the MH out to Ca last summer (WI to CA), and I did not have to be in the truck lane at all (not even up the Donner pass). I was never slower than 45 mph!

What year is your V10? Can you provide before and after MPG, HP, Torque, etc?

We have the Banks exhaust system on our 2000 2valve v10 and last year did the 5 Star tune.
I would say both helped somewhat in power increase, but not as much as I had expected. Of course our 38' coach loaded for travel with 2 bodies weighs in at around 21,230lbs and our toad weighs 3,660lbs.
With a lighter weight coach, I would expect one would notice a more significant increase in power. We did not experience any improvement in fuel mileage.

I have the 5 star tuner. My shifting is alot better. My power is better. I noticed a big difference when putting it in passing gear.
The small hills the I used to down shift on no longer does it. With my scan Gauge I noticced a .4 mpg better.

I would do the 5 Star or Brazell's first before even considering exhaust mod's. Just my 2 cents.

Mine is a 2001. No, I have no written data, I am going by the feel of the seat of my pants (before and after feel. I know that this is rather subjective, but I am a "gear head" and developed a pretty good pants sensory feeling over the years.

Are these tuners something you have to leave hooked up, or you hook up, set everything, then put it away until your need to reset the computer again.

I have the 5 star tuner. All I have to do is hook it up to the obi2 connector and follow the directions. After the down load is complete I disconnect it.I then hook up my scan gauge. The first time you hook it up it will down load factory setting so if you have to return to factory settings you can.
