Oh by the way, we did the hood of my son-in-laws Subaru as an experiment 3 yrs ago and it still looks great! No yellowing or peeling or chipping! We are going to do the rest of the car this summer!

Does Red Max offer any UV protection at all?

I know it does on our MH and pick-up truck. They shine so now more is reflected back from the vehicles.

Red Max Pro #3 is designed for interior floor use so I does not have an UV blocker added. It seals oxygen from the paint/finish and reflect UV/heat from the surface.

Six months later our MH is still shining well and staying clean. When we get it back from the shop I will look to see how the RMP on the roof is holding up. The maker's rep said it may flake off on rubber but would in no way harm the rubber roof.

The first was applied by accident when the son was doing the upper sides by laying down on the roof and reaching over edge. He spilt some and it ran across and down the roof. That was why I called the company to see if I needed to remove it.

Red Max Pro should make the RV a bit cooler in the summer because of it reflecting some of the UV energy.

I would not wax anymore, used Red Max #3, you can buy it a Lowes for about $15.00 a gal and it has done my 98 Mountain Aire 37 foot 7 coats and still have 1/4 left. My RV was so dull after 14 years and the wax did not do it right. It will take you about a day to strip it down and it will really be dull then. but after about 4 coat it start to come back, mine today look better than when I pick it up new, will never used wax again. Oh it may not take you that long, I'am 78 and a little bit slower. Good luck

Just finished it, I wax it twice a year for sure and usually do the front and rear before a trip as it makes it easier to clean off the bugs and dirt after trip. I use johnson j wax in the yellow can, usually need 1 1/2 cans to do the job.

Was it this type of J wax?

Was it this currently marketed version?

In one of the current waxing/RMP theads someone mentioned Poli Glow at some point. It seems to be nothing more than a marked up RMP class of finish.

One found Red Max Pro #3 superior to Poli Glow at fraction of the cost.

Best Poli Glow price seems 1000% more than RMP/Bar Keepers Friend equal size.

Some acrylic coating use reviews that may be of interest to some.

A before/after photo in thread mirrors our results. BMW mentioned too.

Gale I challenge you to provide any scientific facts that RMP will reflect UV energy and make your RV cooler. Same for providing recommendations by custom painters that would recommend using it on custom or factory clear coat paint jobs on cars, trucks or expensive MH's, vs. using a quality wax.
I have worked in the auto industry and familiar with some excellent painters that do expensive paint jobs on custom cars and have never found any that would recommend floor polish on their paint jobs vs. a good wax.

Maybe you choose to do this but if I mentioned this to any of my car friends they would laugh at it. Considering many good custom paint jobs will run from $10K to $20K and good MH paint jobs will $14K+.

It does tend to yellow over time and you don't think that repeated build up of coats that are yellowing is a bad thing?
And you know this firsthand how?
rgatijnet1 wrote:

What is your plan when those repeated coats of Red Max start to peel?
Perhaps use the Red Max Pro stripper (or ammonia), which has been used by others successfully without damage to the fiberglass or gelcoat. Of course, that's "if" it starts to peel, which has rarely been reported and only when the prep or application was not done correctly.
rgatijnet1 wrote:

My painting experience tells me that eventually it will start to peel off and at that point in time all of the savings will be lost.
Just what "painting experience" do you have with RED MAX PRO?
rgatijnet1 wrote:

The yellowing was mentioned by one user today on one of the many RedMax topics. I have to assume that he was telling the truth.
Really? Yet you assume that the hundreds or perhaps even thousands of people on this and many other websites that have used RMP for years without any yellowing are not telling the truth? Interesting "filter" you have there.
rgatijnet1 wrote:

I know that if I were purchasing an RV, and it had RedMax applied to the exterior, I would turn and walk away. It would be a deal killer.
Since RMP is typically used on older, deteriorated RVs, I doubt that you of all people would ever consider buying one anyway, Red Max or not, since you have (in other posts) alluded to your "museum quality" vehicles.

It would send up a big red flag about what else the owner had taken care of improperly.
My 24 year old RV is maintained very well and quite properly, thank you, and it also shines like new now, thanks to RMP!

Of course they would laugh. But we're not talking about cars, are we? And I challenge you or them to justify a $14K+ paint job on an RV that may only be worth $5-7K to begin with (which is EXACTLY what we ARE recommending RMP for.

People, this is not a "zero-sum" game. Our old RVs suddenly being shiny and getting attention takes nothing away from your new, beautiful, shiny "museum quality" coaches. Or is it simply jealousy over the fact that we are now getting some compliments as well, and maybe drawing attention away from your "showroom coaches"?
