While the post office does not forward 3rd class mail a Mail Service is not the same as the post office. You pay that service a fee to handle your mail and if you get magazines, excessive junk mail and you want that stuff they will put it in the mailer envelope(s) and weigh it(them) and charge your account for that postage weight. However if you prefer to only recieve 1st class mail they will cull out other mail and file 13 it for you. A mail service will even open your mail upon signed agreement and dispose of items you don't want. A Mail Service has a signed contract that you allow them to handle your mail as a secondary delivery and they have to meet certain Postal Service requirements to provide their service. If you are using someone or a service which is does not meet the Posal Service guidelines then you risk loosing your mail and have no legal recourse.

We have one in FL, too. I don't need the scan & view online features. Most of our bills, investments, bank statements are accessed online already. Since FL has one site to renew tags and DL's, I can do all 3 for DH at once. What a timesaver.

Then on the first of each month, it's all forwarded to our current campground. I can email them when we move and we've only had one shipping error in the 7 yrs we've used their service.

There is some good info on what constitutes a legal domicile HERE.

We use Alternative Resources in Sioux Falls SD for our mail forwarding service. They have some good info on SD as a full timing domicile. Their site is HERE.

The three states most often used by full timers are SD, TX, and FL.

We are also full timers. Belonging to Escapees. Our residence is in Texas as our Escapee address is also in Texas.
We are now Full time Texas residents. We vote in Texas, vehicle plates Texas and mailing address Texas. Only one vehicle has been inspected in Texas and that is our tow vehicle. Our SUV has never been inside Texas and wears Texas plates every year. You don't have to worry about inspections unless you plan to spend time in Texas. Texas will mail your window stickers/registrations. Will also renew drivers license by mail.
Sold our sticks and bricks house 3 years ago.
