I am looking at a new TT but my SIL is looking for MH's. he said I can buy a used DP for what I can but the new TT. that is True. He argument is that with the new grand son they can move around while driving and that brought up a question I need an answer for. In the new TT they say not to walk or sit in the slide outs when retracted. the floors of the slide outs are floating on the main floor and have no support and thus you can create some serious problems for the TT. Does this hold true for slide outs in MH's? and as far as moving around I don't think that is too safe either. I'm not against them getting a MH just the part about the two questions I had.

No problem walking around in a DP with the slides retracted.

As far as safety moving around, it has never been an issue for the DW and I or sons, nieces, nephews that have been aboard.

Seat belts are available/installed on most DP's so each can make their decision.

I would imagine a child safety seat could be easily used with the seat belts.

No sitting in an RV with slides in is not a problem. Where did you hear such a comment like that?

If you couldn't sit/walk on the slides when in, then our RV (which has sleeping space for seven and seat belts for ten) could only transport three. Wouldn't make much sense, would it? Not to mention that seven of the ten seat belts are on the sofa and dinette, which are on the main slide.

And while traveling I don't have a seat belt on the toilet..........my rule is the driver and passenger is belted while the motorhome is in motion. All others may freely roam the coach, even lay on the bed and watch TV unless I feel road conditions and/or weather conditions warrant them seated and belted....Dennis
