Been a few months since Kindel Fire been out,Not sure how long Nook Tablet been out,I'am not sure which one would be best for me,Is there one better than the other as far as traveling goes? And if you are not near a wifi spot??Would the Nook be better because of the memory card?Do you need wifi to be able to read a book?I will be in Yellowstone at a cg for about 4 months & would like to do some reading & other stuff. Thanks

My wife has had her Kindle Fire since November and is enjoying it alot. She reads books, watches movies, listens to her music, checks Facebook and email, and plays games with the kids. You have to have wifi to download a book, but not to read a book. With 'Amazon Prime' membership she can borrow a new release once a month, and we get free 2-day shipping on anything purchased from Amazon.

Here is an article comparing the two.
PC WORLD
Basicaly.
Kindle reads .mobi files
nook reads .epub files
Epub is the defacto standard and has more choice.
WiFi is not needed to read books but it does allow downloads from libraries. I find that libraries have more epubs than mobi books.
You don't really need a memory card. In your case four months at one book per day would not come close to filling the reader.

Barns and Noble are trying to spin off their Nook readers which are loosing money for them.
The Kindle Fire uses WiFi which works very well for connecting and downloading from Amazon. The one free book mentioned are from the "Best seller" list. There are hundreds of books that are sold free from Amazon. The memory can hold thousands of books.
If you have a library card for any of your local libraries you can go on the internet where ever you are and download books from the library. You acually down-load over a laptop or desktop computer, when using library, first. If the Kindle Fire has the Wi-Fi turned on it immediately gets the book(s) from your computer. Otherwise; the book shows up in the Kindle the next time the WiFi is turned on near the computer.
Some libraries will work directly from the Kindle Fire. It depends on the system used. Amazon actually has two libraries for books. One used directly by Kindle Fires, and the very hugh library @ amazon.com that down-loads similar to the previous paragraph.
The DW is very happy with her Kindle Fire and I would put my money on them rather than the Nook.

DW and I both have Kindle Fires and love them. There is thousands of free books you can download. Amazon has a new free book list every day. They are free for a day or two when first released then you must pay for them. WIFI is needed to load the books from the Amazon site but once you have downloaded them you don't need WIFI to read them. I have yet to pay for a book. We both have Prime.
Go to digitalbooktoday.com Click on best 100 books in red. They are all free for a day or two. When you click on a book title there it will take you to the Amazon site.

My wife is an avid reader and Kindle is her choice. She spends about 10 minutes every morning and evening searching the Amazon site for free books. Some best sellers appear for short periods of time or at the .99 cent price. She feels she made the best choice after a years use.

I have and like the B&W nook. Have used it over a year, reading free books from the Overdrive system which I access via my local library. I can access from anywhere the I have internet access. The new readers have a lot more features, but I just wanted on to read books on, and mine does very well for that.

I use the Nook Tablet, rooted. I have access to several market resources. A CM7 ROM is on the horizon. Love the free access to many of the classics. Currently reading HDT's Walking.
Excellent tool for grabbing our email in rest areas or McD's etc.
Swyped from my rooted BNTV250 using Dolphin HD browser.

My DW decide on the Kindle Fire for the one touch dictionary. Touch a word while you are reading and the definition pops up instantly. On the Nook is was a two click process, which was kind of a pain. Kindle fire won for that single reason. All of the authors she likes have their books on Kindle as well as Nook format on the library's web site, so the format has not been a problem at all.
