Being rv ers I need to know what you use for HID bulb headlights? I have not found a bolt in replacement headlight for my !997 Dodge B2500 ram VAN Anywhere! Just pickup trucks so I was wondering what rv people use on there camper vans to give them the added range HID headlights give them driving down a unfamiliar road late at night at speed! What would you recommend? I recently had a retinal reattachment and need added range and clarity brighter lights give! What can I add to my van to allow me to see again at range?
Thanks
Myles

There is a lot more to HID headlights than just bulbs. Have you looked to see if the headlight area on the van might be similar or the same as a pickup. The pickup setup might be adaptable. HID is expensive!

Just a thought I use silverstar headlights and they now have silverstar ultra which are brighter and my local autozone says they can get even a newer silverstar which is even brighter than the others...that may help some.

Do you know what type of bulb is in your van now. You might try ddmtuning.com I have retro fitted all my vehicles with there bulbs with out a problem. My 94 B350 has 9004 bulbs and I installed a 9004 HID kit with Hi/Low beams for around $60.00 if I recall correctly.

If you want bright, order a pair of these!

http://www.quadratec.com/products/97140_1000.htm

I have them on my Jeep and they literally turn night into day. I was actually coming home at 3 AM one morning on a deserted highway with these lights on, and went by a State Trooper who was parked behind a bridge.

He pulled me over just to see what was on the front of my car. He said: "I was behind that bridge back there and I thought the sun was coming up".

Be aware that extra lighting can be reason to pull you over and give you a citation in some states/ locals.

Consider others who might be driving toward you. Many times I am blinded by other driver's low beams/ driving light combo. They don't appreciate my high beam flash, and I certainly do not appreciate learning that their lights were not on low beams already.

Proper adjustment of any headlights is Key, and moral.

I have searched forever and NO ONE makes a headlight HID headlight replacement. Just a HID kit and that doesn't help at all since the stock headlight was not made to reflect the HID bulb! I do have silver star bulbs in there now but are not bright enough. So of all the rv owners what bolt on headlight(driver light)do you use when it is darker than 3 feet down a cows throat?Make and Model if you can
And Thanks

landyacht318: I was on a 'deserted highway' and there was absolutely no other cars. I am sensitive to light myself, and always take care with my regular high and low beams, and never run my auxiliary lights unless alone.

The State Trooper was just curious and wanted to order a pair himself.

MauMau, I was not really directing any statement at you. You sound like someone who can certainly aim a headlight properly. No Snarky or accusatory tone was intended.

However in a vehicle like a Van or any vehicle than can handle an extra 150+ lbs in the back can make the light go from projecting in the perfect area, to up in other's eyes. I have some rear airbags and a few psi makes a huge difference in headlight angle. 0 pSI and other cars are flashing me, 15 PSI and the headlights aim where they should, anything over that and they stab the pavement way too close to my Hood. 100 PSI the headlights are a joke, hitting the ground 15 feet in front of the van

Also just wanted to imply other states have different laws regarding extra frontal lighting. I imagine Massachusetts might be Nazi like in this department.

I have dreams of mounting an aircraft landing light in my roof to blast everything in front of me. Perhap even a pair. But it would probably be a felony in California.

My Xplorer looked like I had a flashlight out the window to see even in clear weather. I had the brightest bulbs that Auto zone sold put in and adjusted, now I can really see the road, I thought they were called star bright, but it has been a few weeks ago and my memory is not what it had been, they might be the silver star they were $24.99 each. Every thing is a felony in California, I think that is a test state for our laws.
