I was going to change the oil in my generator, but began to strip the Onan 8K oil drain plug. So today I went to Colton Truck Terminal to have them change out the stripped plug and perform the oil/fuel filter/air filter service. It is over 30 miles from my house.
The service was complete and I drove home and parked the motorhome. As I exited the motorhome, I smelled diesel and looked under the generator and saw a slow fuel leak dripping onto the ground. I got under the coach to tighten the connection to the fuel filter, but called Ed, the manager of Colton, before I did anything. He immediately told me that they had 2 other faulty filters and tightening the connection would probably not fix the problem.
Upon closer examination, I saw that the leak was not coming from the fitting. Ed asked me if I had time to drive back to Colton. Unfortunately, I could not spend the time going back and forth to Colton again today. So Ed immediately told me that he would send his service truck out with a new filter and have the problem fixed.
45 minutes later, the mechanic, Roger, arrived where I park my
motorhome. He apologized for not spending the extra time to make sure the filter was not leaking. A few minutes later the new fuel filter was connected and working fine. No charge.
Ed told me he did not want to lose a customer over something that they should have taken care of. Once again, good service from Colton Truck Terminal.
