I have a Vqube 2000 and used it with Directv, very old reciever, it worked but I had a lot of trouble locking on a sat. I think part of the problem was the reciever and Direct gave me a hard time getting a new one, so I switched to Dish, but have not tried the qube with dish to see if it will work. Some day I will have the strength to try and see if it works, but I had so much trouble before....

Please seee my Post, Number 2, and the red highlight .
The Directv-Reciever puts out voltage INTERMITANT..........it will send out voltage, then zero, then send out voltage, then zero.....on and on......
I spent a considerable amount of time, on the phone with King controls, then Directv, then a directv tech, brought MANY recievers, and we spent a afternoon, on Directv's dime, testing multiple recievers-they all displayed this type of behaiver . These tests were done in my 5er, with the vu-cube, in my backyard at my home.
The voltage is outputted for many seconds, then off for many seconds (do not remember the exact amount of time, it has been a couple years we were testing this).
Once it was established this was Normal for Directv recievers, I have learned to use the chart,( provided,) and can have my satlite system up and running within a few minutes.
I do not know how it would work for a Dish reciever, but.......I can use my home reciever, in my rig, with NO additional cost for RVing.(I just set my reciever for S.D.)
Hope this helps, it is not a perfect system, but it works, and not $1000.00 plus, for a Kingdome automatic system , that sometimes will not work due to trees............ I can set the Vu-Cube anywhere there is a clear sky path.

Chris, I know the VuQube uses a 7" dish, but I haven't found a spec for the dish size in the Winegard Carryout automatic. It appears that it could be larger based on the dome size, but I'd like find a number to support that. Do you have any info regarding the size?

I have the VueQube 2000 and DISH. The 2000 can be used with either DISH or DIRECT and is capable of receiving HD programs. Programming the unit is easy and takes less than a minute then turn on the unit and it automatically will find the appropriate satellite(s).

Wow. My question really set off a storm of advice. I think I'm going to get the VuQube since it's in my price range and I'm not worried about local channels because I don't watch a lot of TV but just like the option of TV. I'll let you know if any issues or questions come up once I install and use it. Thanks everyone for your time and info.
