At one time you could take the box from your house and place it in the RV, But now they are stopping this because of people selling boxes to other people and charging them like half of there bill, So now with Dish network you will have to order a box on your home Account just for the RV, Don't believe that Take your house box camping with you away from your house address and it will not work, It now has to be a RV account.

We have had Dish in the house for 15+ years. When we got the motor home I moved an old receiver out there, it did not work. I called Dish and they gave me a free receiver and set a tech out for free to hook everything up. I only pay about $6/month for service.
My only complaint is if the receiver is not used very often, and we don't because most parks have cable it will reset it's self and we get error code 005. I have to call Dish and they send a reset signal, everything works until the next time. Talking with Dish if I just turn the thing on every now and then this will not happen. So I guess I will have to add it to a monthly PM schedule to just sit down and watch Dish in the camper. May have to tell the wife I must watch for all day or something like that. Maybe it would happen during a ball game. Wonder if she would figure that one out?

I go through the same thing if I so not use my Dish Receiver for a month or so. I can usually call tech support and do the reactivation using their automated help system but sometimes I get a technician that sends a restart signal. I always tell them that the receiver is located in my motorhome and has not been turned on for a month, no problem Dish sends the reset signal. Of course if I am gone from home for a month or more, I need to go through the whole process for my home receivers.

I have two receivers at home and have always taken one when on the road. Never had a problem. Have used my KVH or separate dish all over the country. I've been using one of my home receivers here in Florida (Jan, Feb, March) going on 5 yrs. They used to charge a small amount when the receiver was not hooked to a phone line. They stopped that a couple of yrs. ago. If you are able to locate the satallites that you get your programing on at home, you should not have a problem.

Can I just move the card from one receiver to another:
NO: the card is registered TO THAT RECEIVER, part of the registration is in the card, part in the receiver, if you just move the card it will not work.
You can... However... Move the receiver.
Page 2: if you do move the receiver and then drive far enough before parking, You will LOOSE network TV in all likelyhood. This is the problem with using a home account receiver in an RV.. Now if you had an RV account you could subscribe to Distant Network Service, and of course use your "Spare" receiver(s)... in the house.

We subscribe to Dish at home, just one receiver, one TV. I called Dish to find out about an RV setup. I ended up buying a 211 receiver and a 1 terabyte hard drive along with a MiniMax antenna for the roof. We get the regular Dish channels (cheapo package). If we want "local" channels, we call Dish when we arrive somewhere, give them a physical address and ten minutes later we have local channels. The only rub is when you are receiving these local channels in the RV, your local channels at home are not available.
Dish advised me that if I wanted to keep local channels at home, that I would have to purchase a complete new account for the RV, to the tune of 40 or 50 bucks per month!
So far, it's working out OK.mWhennwe have a sat signal for awhile, I record shows onto thenexternal HD, watch some regular drivel and do the call in routine for the locals. For example, we are near San Antonio, Texas right now and are receiving Houston channels.
I might add that having driven through Houston a couple of days ago, including the Sam Houston tollway I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!

Would you also get your local channels if you had this service or just local Network?
