Saw on the internet that people said to remove battery etc and place components in rice for a period of time. Did so for 3 days but no dice. When you hold the power button the home page comes up but shuts down once the button is let go of.I know the battery is good because I have the same phone and tested it in mine. I was wondering if anyone had a similiar situation and tried having it fixed by cell phone support shop. They have said they will try it for $65 whether it works or not. It will be 3 or 4 hundred to replace it. Just wondering if anybody has had any luck with these type shops. Hate to think they would just leave it sitting for three days without touching it and then call and say it couldn't be fixed. Appreciate any sharing of experiences. Or set it on top of the toaster oven once it has been in use and cooled down to the point you can rest your hand on it. This will bake out any remaining moisture. Spending $65 to send it in, and they get to keep it, and the good battery? It might be $65 down the drain and you will not have a spare battery either. I do agree that they might have it sit in the corner two days, before calling you "Nope it did not come on when we tried it." Yes there is a deductible, but it's cheaper than buying a new phone. I have not tried the heat but I will. Unfortunately I did not take the insurance on the phone. I got four phones for the family at the same time and they wanted $100 per phone for insurance. Starting to think I should of. I looked it up and sure enough, many sites do say that. But, that's only after you try to blow the water out first. They give dire warnings about using heat sources like hair dryers, assuming you're just going to set it and forget it. No, there's a correct way to use heat and wind. Rice is a dessicant which will take forever. You want this done as quickly as possible.
