Guess it all depends on what you want to go there for. I've been through Winchester many times and have not stopped at the Camping World store there.

We drove over two hours to see a Camping World store- we were new RVers and had never been in one. We thought we were going to be overwhelmed by a huge store with a lot of things we had never seen. I had imagined it to be a Cabellas for RVers. (For those who don't know Cabellas is a destination store for outdoor activities/camping/etc.) It was nothing like that and the store connected to the RV dealer that we bought from has just as much. I don't think that I will go out of my way to go to a Camping World store again.
If you want an excuse for a trip - then go for it.

While they do carry good mdse., I was not at all impressed with their personnel, knowledgewise or attitude to a 'mere PUP owner'. The store itself was interesting - it had a door marked 'tornado shelter'.....first I'd ever seen here on the east coast.

We use the Belleville, MI store when home which is an old store with a great bunch of employees, same with the 2 small stores in MI. We have stopped at others on the road but find the Belleville to be one of our favorites.
Location for Camping World are mostly anchored by a local RV Dealership and there are a lot more Camping Worlds than Bass Pro, Ikea, and Cabala's. Camping World store are also easier to get into with an RV.
There maybe a lot more locations but there is no CW's in MD,Southern PA or Northern VA. But there are Bass Pro's and Cabellas's.
The OP is talking a 2 hour ride to get to a CW.
I understand there are lots of areas in the USA that are remote and require long drives, the Baltimore metro area is not one of them.
Nothing against Winchester,VA but I think CW can serve a lot more customers in a more populated area.

We live 30 mins from the Winchester CW and have only gone once when we were in the area. Lots of stuff squished in a small space. Know what you want before you go. No worth a trip by itself. Bass Pro is right next door.

Everything they have, as far as I know, is also online. Considering the cost of gas, it would be cheaper to have something shipped, unless you are thinking about buying some very large items.

And the inverse of this is not true. I have been in three CWs looking for a heating element for my Suburban water heater. You would think this would be an item readily in stock, but no. Their online offerings far exceed what is in their store.

Yep. Almost all stores with a brick and mortar and online presence never have the same offerings in store as online. Online is usually always going to have more products.
That's the main reason I do most of my shopping online. In fact, most stores even have a better online price. Not sure why unless by eliminating the middle man they can offer the cost savings to the consumer.
Other than groceries and drug store items, most of my purchases are done online. You can price compare so easy, and so many places offer great shipping deals that even if you factor in that cost you still get a better deal. Not to mention you can pick EXACTLY what you want. When I used to mostly shop in stores, I would often buy something that wasn't exactly what I wanted, but all that was offered. I got tired of that. lol
